The Job At-A-Glance:
Q2 is seeking an eager and adaptable Software Engineer with a passion for building core platform capabilities that support scalable financial technology services. As part of our Frameworks team, you’ll contribute to the foundational building blocks used by product and service teams across the company. This is a hands-on engineering role well-suited for individuals excited to grow their skills while working in a collaborative, modern development environment.
Our ideal candidate has a strong understanding of software fundamentals, is comfortable working within shared services architectures, and is excited to work with technologies like Golang, Python, or other modern programming languages, along with AWS and a variety of relational and non-relational databases. You’ll be supported by experienced engineers and given opportunities to deepen your technical expertise and influence how we evolve our platform.
A Typical Day:
Collaborate with other engineers to design, implement, and test core framework components that power multiple products and services
Learn and contribute to scalable service architecture patterns and shared infrastructure best practices
Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code using Golang, Python, or similar programming languages
Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and sprint planning as part of an Agile development team
Help maintain and improve internal libraries and services to promote consistency and reliability across engineering teams
Troubleshoot and support production systems with a focus on learning from incidents and improving reliability
Continuously grow your knowledge of cloud-native engineering (AWS), container orchestration, CI/CD, observability, and developer tooling
Bring Your Passion, Do What you Love. Here's What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
Foundational experience or coursework in backend software development, with proficiency in Golang, Python, or similar languages
Comfortable working with relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and non-relational (Redis, DynamoDB, etc.) databases
Exposure to cloud computing principles and services (especially AWS)
An interest in shared service or platform engineering and how infrastructure supports large-scale systems
Strong desire to learn and grow in a collaborative team environment
Ability to communicate effectively and ask thoughtful questions
Familiarity with Git, modern development workflows, and CI/CD principles
A proactive mindset with a willingness to jump in and try things, even if it means making (and learning from) mistakes
COMPLEMENTARY SKILLS & TECHNOLOGIES:
Service discovery, caching strategies, and configuration management
Observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry
Containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Nomad, Kubernetes)
Writing and maintaining internal libraries or developer tooling
This position requires fluent written and oral communication in English.
