We Breathe Life Into Data

At Komodo Health, our mission is to reduce the global burden of disease. And we believe that smarter use of data is essential to this mission. That’s why we built the Healthcare Map — the industry’s largest, most complete, precise view of the U.S. healthcare system — by combining de-identified, real-world patient data with innovative algorithms and decades of clinical experience. The Healthcare Map serves as our foundation for a powerful suite of software applications, helping us answer healthcare’s most complex questions for our partners. Across the healthcare ecosystem, we’re helping our clients unlock critical insights to track detailed patient behaviors and treatment patterns, identify gaps in care, address unmet patient needs, and reduce the global burden of disease.

As we pursue these goals, it remains essential to us that we stay grounded in our values: be awesome, seek growth, deliver “wow,” and enjoy the ride. At Komodo, you will be joining a team of ambitious, supportive Dragons with diverse backgrounds but a shared passion to deliver on our mission to reduce the burden of disease — and enjoy the journey along the way.

The Opportunity at Komodo Health

The Cohort Builder team at Komodo is responsible for building the most reactive and user-friendly experience for our users to query the Komodo Healthcare Map and build domain analytics. The team is an integral part of Komodo’s platform working on the most comprehensive data about what actually happens in U.S. healthcare.

The way to query the Komodo Healthcare Map can evolve over time and vary depending on the market segment our users come from. With that, the Cohort Builder team is about to re-write the existing experience into a more scalable one which will support those variations and data addons for the next decade.

Looking back on your first 12 months at Komodo Health, you will have…

  • Owned the development of the new Cohort Builder 2.0, based on Product and Design requirements
  • Proposed new designs and ideas for creatively finding ways around seeming obstacles to a high-quality user experience
  • Learned about healthcare data and how to embed several data addons into the Cohort Builder experience

You will accomplish these outcomes through the following responsibilities…

  • Continual contributions to the App Suite and Cohort Builder production codebase, including reviews of your colleagues’ code
  • Close partnership with Product Management and Design in defining and realizing the best achievable user experience
  • Continually evaluating new technologies and innovations that can be incorporated into our solution
  • Collaboration with other Platform and Application Engineering teams when opportunities to jointly tackle problems arise
  • Contributed to our Komodo Design System and Components library to deliver the best user experience to our userbase
  • Documenting your work to a high-standard, and rigorously ensuring quality of everything that is released

What you bring to Komodo Health (required):

  • 4+ years of experience building rich web applications using modern technologies such as NodeJS, Typescript and React
  • Experience architecting end-to-end solutions and building backend systems and APIs using modern technologies such as Python
  • Experience in automating UI user acceptance tests to enable continuous delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate with both technical and non-technical colleagues

Additional skills and experience we’d prioritize (nice to have)…

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working with international teams (good conversational English level required)

So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
