Join Autodesk Tandem and help lead the charge in revolutionizing building operations with cutting-edge technology! Nearly 50% of operational carbon emissions come from buildings, and 30% of energy is wasted due to poor design and operational decisions. At Autodesk, we’re on a mission to empower building operators to optimize their environments using data. Our team is developing digital twin technology that connects, aggregates, and analyzes building data from various sources, enabling operators to improve both sustainability and operational efficiency.
We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a dynamic team in developing modern cloud services for data analytics. In this role, you’ll shape the direction of our product, collaborating closely with product managers and data scientists to create innovative solutions that enhance building performance. In our fast-paced, collaborative environment, you’ll have the opportunity to develop solutions from the ground up, with a direct impact on the success of a high-growth, mission-driven product. You will report to the Director of Engineering in this remote position.
Responsibilities
Lead a distributed development team of 5 engineers across North America, fostering a collaborative and high-performing remote culture.
Coach and grow individual team members, supporting their professional development and guiding the team’s organic expansion as product demands evolve.
Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, data scientists, UX designers, and software architects to translate user needs into impactful, customer-facing features.
Guide technical strategy to ensure that your team builds and maintains scalable, secure, and high-throughput data platforms and services. This includes leveraging modern cloud infrastructure, distributed data processing, and real-time/streaming data pipelines.
Champion data excellence, promoting best practices in data engineering, including data quality, observability, reliability, and governance.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, data science or a related field.
2+ years of experience managing software engineering teams, including coaching individuals and delivering production software in a product-focused environment.
8–10 years of hands-on software development experience, with demonstrated proficiency in building and maintaining production-grade systems.
Solid experience in data analytics, including both classical statistical methods and modern machine learning techniques.
Proficiency in time series analysis and related modeling techniques.
Experience working with large-scale data pipelines and analytics infrastructure (e.g., Spark, Flink, Airflow, dbt, or similar tools).
Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and architectures (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure, Snowflake, or BigQuery).
Preferred Qualifications
MS or PhD in computer science, engineering, data science, or a related field.
Experience leading teams in the development of data-intensive or analytics-focused products, particularly in fast-paced or high-growth environments.
Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and real-time data processing.
Familiarity with modern data stack tools and frameworks such as dbt, Kafka, Snowflake, Delta Lake, or similar.
Hands-on experience with ML model deployment and operationalization (e.g., MLOps practices, feature stores, monitoring).
Passion for coaching and mentoring engineers, with a leadership style that emphasizes collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement.
