We are seeking a Software Development Manager to lead and oversee multiple software engineering teams working on the modernization of our application platform on both web and mobile, built using a microservices architecture. This role is not a hands-on coding position, but the ideal candidate will have a background as a software engineer or similar role, providing them with a strong foundation for understanding technical challenges and guiding development teams.

The Software Development Manager will be responsible for managing teams of 10–15 engineers, predominately composed of offshore contractors, driving multiple concurrent projects, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable software solutions. The role requires strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to balance strategic oversight with operational execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop multiple software development teams working on C# / React microservices-based applications.

  • Oversee day-to-day execution of multiple projects, ensuring on-time delivery, quality, and alignment with business goals.

  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, QA, customer services and other stakeholders to define priorities, scope, and delivery timelines.

  • Foster a high-performing, collaborative, and accountable team culture.

  • Identify and remove roadblocks to keep teams productive and motivated.

  • Track project progress, manage risks, and report status to leadership.

  • Drive continuous improvement in development processes, team workflows, and delivery practices.

  • Support career growth and performance development for engineers on your teams.

Skills and Experience needed for success in this role:

  • Background, 6 plus years, in software engineering (experience as a software developer, engineer, or similar role).

  • Proven 3 plus year experience managing software development teams of ~10–15 people.

  • Experience overseeing multiple simultaneous projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong understanding of modern software architectures, particularly microservices.

  • Excellent leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills.

  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

  • Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred (Nice to have):

  • Prior experience managing application modernization projects.

  • Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Git, and CI/CD pipelines, C# and AWS

  • Understanding of software quality assurance practices.

  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams.

Where:
The EverCommerce team is distributed globally, with teams in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Jordan, New Zealand, and Australia. With a widely distributed team, we are used to working remotely across different time zones. This role can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada – if you’re close to one of our offices, we can set you up in-office or you can work 100% remotely. Please note that you must be eligible to work without sponsorship to qualify for this position, and this role may require travel to our Corporate Headquarters in Denver, Colorado, or to other office locations around North America.

Compensation: The target base compensation for this position is $158,950 to $170,700 USD per year in most US locations. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including location, local market variances, and candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
