PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $117,200.00-$143,200.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $91,000.00 - $169,400.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE: 

The Software Developer supports the delivery of new capabilities and enhancements within the core banking platform, combining systems analysis with hands-on configuration and development. This role partners closely with business and technical teams to understand needs, gather and clarify requirements, assess impacts, and translate business challenges into effective technical solutions. The Software Developer also identifies opportunities for process improvements, drives operational efficiencies, and collaborates with stakeholders to deliver measurable business value and enhanced user experience. The role also participates in production deployments, including serving in an on-call capacity to troubleshoot and resolve unexpected issues, which may occur outside of traditional business hours, helping to ensure system stability and successful implementation of changes. This position contributes throughout the software development lifecycle while supporting critical banking applications and services.

To join our dynamic team, we require candidates to be residents of WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, GA, SC, NC, CA or VA. If you’re located in Washington state and within a reasonable driving distance from Tukwila, we are requesting that you come into our HQ on Tuesdays & Wednesdays.  For those candidates that live outside the commute distance of TFC and in any of our approved remote work locations, this role will be remote. Remote or onsite, we are committed to ensuring you are fully engaged and included in our collaborative environment

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

  • Deliver Technical Solutions: Perform all responsibilities in accordance with BECU Competencies, compliance, regulatory, and Information Protection requirements. 

  • Develop & Build: Develop prototypes, proofs of concept, and solutions by combining technical expertise with a solid understanding of basic software design concepts throughout the software development lifecycle. 

  • Partner with Stakeholders: Partner with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and clarify business requirements, evaluate downstream impacts, and recommend solutions that align with organizational objectives. 

  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify and support continuous improvement initiatives that drive operational efficiencies, reduce process waste, and improve service delivery. Determine the best solution given requirements for software while balancing business objectives, operational efficiency, and user experience considerations. Responsible for system analysis, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation. 

  • Enhance Existing Systems: Responsible for identifying areas of improvement in existing code and implementing those improvements to enhance system performance, efficiency, and user experience. 

  • Support Development Standards: Review and provide feedback on code written by other developers to ensure style, consistency, and adherence to BECU standards. Collaborate with senior staff, providing expertise and input to those standards. 

  • Automate Processes: Automate and improve business processes and interactions while working with limited guidance. 

  • Contribute to Technology Strategy: Participate in discussions with Architects and technical leaders to help define the team’s technology, roadmap, and vision. 

  • Support Production Operations: Participate in an on-call rotation to support production deployments and critical banking applications, responding to and resolving production issues, coordinating with stakeholders as needed, and helping to minimize service disruptions.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline required, or equivalent work experience. 

  • Minimum two years of experience designing software and writing production code in a team environment including experience analyzing business requirements and translating them into technical solutions. 

  • Experience delivering highly scalable solutions in multiple programming languages and technical environments with the ability to evaluate system impacts and support complex business processes. 

  • Experience with cloud technology, .NET, C#, PowerShell, JavaScript/Typescript, Python, SQL Experience with SOLID design principles, Object-Oriented Programming and Design, demonstrated through regular communication, usage, and presentation. 

  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery systems and tools such as Azure DevOps Services, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or TeamCity. 

Desired Qualifications 

  • Experience supporting, configuring, developing, or integrating with the Fiserv DNA core banking platform. 

  • Experience supporting production deployments and troubleshooting issues in production environments. 

  • Demonstrated experience identifying, leading, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives that improve operational efficiency, service delivery, or user experience. 

  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and change management skills, with the ability to effectively partner across business and technical teams. 

  • Knowledge of Open Source (OSS) technologies, and open-source systems like Linux / bash. 

  • Proficiency at building build / deployment pipelines in YAML. 

  • Expertise in Test Driven Development concepts, methods, and tools. Demonstrated experience in unit testing. 

  • Experience using git, including performing code reviews, pull requests, and following branching standards such as Git Flow or Trunk-Based Development. 

  • Knowledge of relational and non-relational data modeling and data analysis. 

  • Experience remaining current with technologies utilized through work or continuing industry or education. 

  • Experience using static code analysis tools to explain and correct secure coding.
