Software Customer Quality Engineer

Job Description

Software Customer Quality Engineer will work as an interface between automotive customers and the many stakeholders that it takes to manufacture and support our automotive audio products from start of production to end of life.   The stakeholders include our manufacturing partners, hardware engineering, software engineering, and change management.  

This position is responsible for managing the customer relationships at customer manufacturing facilities, as well a customer field quality, and the internal and external quality KPI’s that go with those areas.   This position is responsible to support and oversee the Quality Assurance of our SW products in the applicable region, along with software that is installed in our hardware by manufacturing partners.   This position will specialize and collaborate with our engineering partners to understand the requirements, specifications, troubleshooting, and the user experience, so that they can effectively support and communicate with stakeholders as potential defects or bugs are reported.

Collaborates with supplier representatives on quality problems, as well as collaborates with software engineers and developers, and ensures that effective corrective actions are implemented, and contributes to supplier and software development quality improvement programs.   In the event of the defect, one would contribute to the development and implementation of sophisticated testing equipment and performs product testing and analysis to maintain quality levels and minimize defects and failure rates.  Analyzes reports and defective products (software and hardware) to determine trends and recommend corrective actions.

Responsibilities:

  • Quality Engineering work with IATF16949 / ISO9001 & Core Tools
  • Manage customer line and field claims using 8D problem solving tools, with a particular focus on software products and software that is installed in Bose hardware.
  • Support Change Management and PPAP activities as needed
  • Collaborate with Internal and External Engineering Teams
  • Quality Assurance work supporting customers when there are potential software bugs and defects, including continuous improvement activities and correctives actions within the engineering development team.
  • Lead the resolution of quality issues and visit customers sites to explain issue and actions as needed
  • Review Lessons Learned from previous issues and effectiveness verification for current manufacturing and development processes
  • Cooperate with manufacturing partners and internal teams, both domestic and overseas related to all aspects of quality
  • Understand the requirements of customers and develop action plans that meet or exceed requirements
  • Supporting field and warranty claims from customers
  • Continuous improvement of business activities

Skills:

  • Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years strong working experience and knowledge as Automotive Software Quality Engineer
  • Good understanding of automotive electrical architecture and communication protocols
  • Good understanding of manufacturing statistics and capability requirements
  • Good understanding of ASPICE, APQP, and IATF16949/ISO9001
  • Deep understanding of a Quality Management System
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft software products
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • BS in Engineering
