PTC is seeking an experienced SEO Manager to lead our evolving Search practice across organic search, AI-driven search experiences, and emerging GEO (Generative Engine Optimization). As search undergoes rapid transformation—spanning traditional engines, AI assistants, large language model surfaces, and generative answer ecosystems—this leadership role will shape how PTC shows up across the entire search landscape.
As a strategic member of the Digital Marketing organization, the SEO Manager will be responsible for building and maturing our enterprise search strategy, overseeing SEO programs and GEO initiatives, and developing scalable frameworks that increase PTC’s discoverability, authority, and performance across global markets. This role will drive cross-functional alignment, manage high-priority search roadmaps, and guide both technical and content teams in best practices for organic visibility, generative‑AI visibility, and semantic optimization.
This is a high-impact leadership opportunity within one of the most interactive and high-traffic industrial technology websites in the market. With ~70% of the buyer journey occurring digitally—and the rise of AI‑led discovery—this role is mission-critical to ensuring PTC continues to outperform competitors, innovate on new search surfaces, and maintain industry-leading positions across key markets.
This role partners closely with PPC, Strategy, Web Technology, Product Marketing, and Analytics teams across PTC.
Day-To-Day:
Strategic Leadership & Cross‑Functional Alignment
- Lead PTC’s enterprise-wide Search strategy, covering SEO, GEO, and AI search ecosystem optimization
- Define and manage the search roadmap, prioritizing projects that advance visibility, authority, and revenue impact
- Partner with Digital leadership to develop search KPIs, governance, workflows, and scalable operating models
- Mentor junior specialists and cross-functional partners on SEO/GEO best practices, frameworks, and tooling
- Present search performance, trends, and strategic recommendations to leadership audiences
Organic SEO Ownership
- Oversee global SEO performance across PTC.com—including technical, on‑page, and semantic optimization—with an ownership focus on North America and strong partnership with regional counterparts
- Help diagnose complex SEO challenges (indexing, crawl issues, ranking volatility) and drive cross-team resolutions
- Lead development and ongoing refinement of structured data and schema frameworks
- Oversee continuous improvement of organic visibility across business units and product lines
- Own all organic processes, enablement, training, documentation, and optimization
- Collaborate with content teams to ensure SEO best practices in new and existing content
- Maintain and manage the master SEO keyword list within Smartsheet
GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) & AI Search Optimization
- Develop PTC’s GEO strategy to increase visibility across LLM responses, AI assistants, AI search engines, generative answer boxes, and RAG‑powered experiences
- Establish content frameworks optimized for AI retrieval, citation likelihood, semantic clarity, and entity-based authority signals
- Partner with Product & Content Strategy to ensure PTC’s thought leadership and product narratives are optimized and adapted for AI‑driven discovery
- Monitor AI search surfaces for emerging opportunities, algorithm shifts, and generative‑ecosystem ranking factors
Performance, Insights & Reporting
- Design and manage advanced dashboards and reporting for organic and AI search visibility across tools like GSC, SEMRush, Looker, and AI‑visibility tracking systems
- Conduct ongoing keyword research, cluster analysis, entity mapping, and competitive intelligence across traditional and generative search surfaces
- Communicate search performance insights, growth opportunities, and risk analysis to marketing leadership
- Maintain ownership of PTC’s enterprise keyword frameworks (SEO + GEO) in Smartsheet or equivalent systems
- Lead A/B and multivariate testing initiatives to validate SEO/GEO hypotheses
- Ensure consistent documentation, scalable templates, and process adoption across content, web, and analytics teams
Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
- 3-7 years of experience in SEO and search performance analysis, with at least 2–3 years operating at a lead or managerial capacity
- Strong technical SEO expertise, including schema, page experience metrics, indexing, and site architecture
- Deep understanding of AI search behavior, LLM retrieval patterns, generative ranking factors, and GEO strategy – and a finger on the pulse of how this era of search is evolving
- Expertise in competitive analysis, semantic search optimization, and entity‑based SEO
- Proficiency with SEO tools: SEMRush, Google Search Console, Looker, GA4, Screaming Frog, and AI search monitoring tools
- Ability to communicate search strategy, complex technical concepts, and performance insights to leadership audiences
- Strong collaboration leadership skills with experience guiding cross-functional teams
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum 4–6 years in SEO, content strategy, or digital marketing roles with measurable impact on traffic and conversions
- Experience managing and mentoring team members or cross-functional contributors
- Hands-on experience with structured data, HTML/CSS, and web performance optimization
- Experience optimizing for AI search, LLM surfaces, or emerging generative search ecosystems
- Familiarity with global SEO strategy and multilingual optimization
Basic Qualifications:
- Strong analytical and reporting skills across enterprise BI and SEO platforms
- Expertise in SEO fundamentals, site health, indexing dynamics, and emerging search frameworks
- Working understanding of modern web best practices and CMS workflows
- Experience using Microsoft Office tools, Looker Studio, GA4, SEMRush and/or Brightedge, and other enterprise analytics tools, with a special focus on high-proficiency in Excel functions (advanced layouts and formulas)
PTC carefully considers a wide variety of factors when determining compensation. The anticipated annual salary range for this position is between $113,000 - $138,000. The salary range reflects a good-faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on a candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, candidates may be eligible for a performance-based bonus. Employees also have the opportunity to become a PTC shareholder through our employee share purchase program (ESPP), which allows for the purchase of discounted PTC stock. Certain roles may also be eligible for participation in our equity programs.
