In this senior-level role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and support of a robust Windows Server and VMware infrastructure, including the underlying Cisco UCS hardware. This role also involves administering and optimizing our Azure environment, including Azure B2C identity services, while ensuring high availability and performance across on-prem and cloud systems.
You will act as a technical lead on complex projects, provide Tier 3 support for critical infrastructure and end-user services, and help drive continuous improvement through automation and modernization initiatives. You will also be responsible for the enterprise monitoring system and play a key role in managing our Citrix VDI environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, maintain, and support a large-scale Windows Server infrastructure across on-prem and cloud environments.

  • Administer and optimize VMware virtualization platforms, including host hardware on Cisco UCS.

  • Oversee and enhance our Azure environment, including Azure B2C registrations

  • Own and maintain the enterprise monitoring platform, ensuring proactive alerting and performance tuning across critical systems.

  • Provide Tier 3 support for escalated infrastructure and end-user service issues, including Citrix VDI and endpoint services.

  • Act as a technical lead on infrastructure initiatives, ensuring best practices in security, scalability, and reliability.

  • Monitor system capacity and performance, recommend improvements, and implement system upgrades and patches.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Networking, Security, End User Services, Application Development) to support ongoing operations and projects.

  • Document systems, processes, and configurations; contribute to knowledge sharing across the team.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to critical incidents as needed.

Key Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in Windows Server engineering or system administration.

  • Strong experience with VMware (vSphere, ESXi), and enterprise hardware—especially Cisco UCS.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Azure, including resource administration and Azure AD B2C.

  • Experience supporting Citrix VDI environments.

  • Hands-on experience with enterprise monitoring tools and alert management.

  • Excellent troubleshooting, scripting (PowerShell preferred), and automation skills.

  • Strong understanding of networking, security principles, and Active Directory architecture.

  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related area is strongly preferred.

Preferred:

  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-305, MSCE), VMware certifications (VCP), or Citrix certifications.

  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation pipelines, or configuration management tools

  • Experience with hybrid cloud and cloud migration strategies.

Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
