  • Drive end-to-end user experience design for complex features, from early exploration to polished execution.
  • Design thoughtful, user-centered solutions that simplify technical workflows and enhance usability for admin and ops-facing tools.
  • Create user flows, journey maps, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes that communicate design intent clearly.
  • Conduct and apply insights from user research and usability testing to continuously refine and improve experiences.

  • Design Systems & Visual Craft
  • Contribute to the evolution of the design system—defining reusable components, maintaining documentation, and ensuring consistency across the platform.
  • Elevate the visual quality of the product through strong attention to detail and scalable design patterns.
  • Partner with engineering to ensure designs are implemented with accuracy and polish, maintaining a high-quality user interface.

  • Information Architecture
  • Structure complex information and functionality into intuitive and accessible experiences.
  • Develop clear navigation, taxonomies, and hierarchies that support discoverability and ease of use in security and infrastructure-focused tools.

  • Collaboration & Influence
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and domain experts to shape product strategy and deliver cohesive, user-centric solutions.
  • Share design decisions and rationale clearly with stakeholders; contribute to discussions that guide product direction.
  • Support a healthy design culture by participating in critiques, sharing best practices, and offering feedback to peers.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience designing for SaaS, infrastructure, or enterprise software products—ideally in security or developer-focused environments.
  • Deep expertise in UX, interaction design, and systems thinking.
  • Proficiency in Figma with a strong portfolio showcasing experience in design systems, complex flows, and component-based UI design.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct and apply user research in technical domains.
  • Solid understanding of responsive design, accessibility, and frontend collaboration; familiarity with React, HTML, and CSS is a plus.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills—able to advocate for users and design with clarity and confidence.
  • Independent and self-driven, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and deliver high-impact work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bonus: experience mentoring, hiring, and helping shape team process and culture

Compensation:

  • $200,000-$230,000 DOE + equity salary packages
  • Company-sponsored benefits, including:
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance (free to employees and dependents)
  • 401K, HSA, FSA, short/long-term disability coverage, life insurance
  • 6 weeks of combined accrued vacation + sick time
  • Volunteer days + standard holidays
  • 24 weeks paid parental leave for everyone + 1 month transition time back + childcare stipend for first year

Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
