The Senior Unreal Engineer will port an action RPG to Switch 2, optimize code, integrate services, mentor engineers, and document practices.
Demiurge Studios is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to assist with porting our newest project – an open world action RPG developer with Unreal Engine 5 - to the Switch 2. Come join a cohesive, highly-skilled, and well-supported development team at Demiurge Studios!
Responsibilities:
- Manage port to Switch 2
- Assist with XSX|S and PS5 ports
- Optimize and specialize code as needed to pass console certification
- Integrate first party services and SDKs as necessary to pass console certification
- Work with artists to identify and address asset performance concerns
- Mentor other engineers to develop more performant code
- Develop tools to help detect and correct performance failures
- Document best development practices for successful porting
- Provide time estimates and development plans for your work
Qualifications:
- 5+ years professional software development experience
- Professional software development experience in C++
- Professional experience developing software with the Unreal Game Engine
- Experience porting to mobile and/or Switch
- Subject matter expert in rendering pipelines and GPU debugging
- Strong programming and software architecture skills
- Demonstrated ability to achieve development goals with minimal supervision
- Experience with performance optimization
- Good communication with non-technical audience about complex topics
- Technical leadership in the form of long term planning and short term task breakdown
- BS or higher in Computer Science or similar discipline (Physics, Math, EE, etc.), or equivalent experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
Preference to Applicants experienced with:
- Console development for XSX|S, PS5
- Developing tools for content creation
- Planning and production
