This is a hybrid role that requires being in office several days a week.

As a Principal Technical Product Manager for the EverQuote Auction Platform, you play a critical role in the connection of insurance shoppers and insurance providers through efficient matching algorithms and systems.  You drive transformative growth for EverQuote via seamless technology solutions that sit at the heart of our organization’s core mission and largest revenue priority opportunities.

Technical Product Managers at EverQuote are curious self-starters with a passion for delivering business outcomes through technology. You have a specialization in more technical products and customers, but you never lose sight of solving your customers problems and needs in a way that aligns with the objectives of your organization.

As the product lead of the Auction platform, you will envision, design, deliver, plan, and drive technical product innovations to enable critical business operations. You own the roadmap, adoption, operation, business value, and life cycle of auction platforms at EverQuote. You own relationships with the users of your technology, both technical and non-technical, and you partner with stakeholders to define and execute a strategy that drives value-multiplied outcomes for our business. You are data-driven in your thinking and lead discussions with data. You build partnerships -- up, down, and across -- with other Product Managers, Engineers, Architects, Analysts, and Business stakeholders. You define metrics to measure progress and value of output and regularly provide direct visibility to senior leadership on all aspects of your product(s).

You are comfortable with ambiguity and possess an ownership mentality to drive structure for delivery of output and outcomes for the business. You are analytical and possess excellent problem-solving skills. You communicate proactively with clarity, both orally and in writing, and excel in stakeholder relationship management. You have a strong background in Product Management, with experience in software agile development cycles and in managing and delivering large cross-functional programs. You have passion, a team mentality in an evolving environment, and are able to respond to escalations with data and technical analysis.

What you'll do:
  • Identify the needs and requirements of the products and features that your platform supports, ensuring alignment with cross-functional teams on your roadmap and building runway for fast and efficient development.
  • Set and manage product performance KPIs in a way that has a positive, scalable impact on business metrics. Proactively communicate trends and identify a clear connection between the product and the business objectives and outcomes that matter to a wide breadth of stakeholders and customers.
  • Own and iterate the Auction Platform product forward scalably, cost efficiently, and sustainably to ensure value delivery keeps alignment with the business objectives
  • Develop new features to meet emerging needs and technologies while proactively identifying gaps/opportunities using a data driven approach
  • Oversee production launches of functionality with a roll-out plan, testing plan, and clear/measurable success criteria to continue or complete roll-out
  • Keep a healthy funnel of product ideas and development in a prioritized backlog and ensure all work has clear acceptance criteria and business value associated
  • Ensure that all work taken into a sprint has been prioritized, groomed, pointed and that team members have as much context and as little disruption as possible to deliver
  • Follow work through to the end value, not just to the end of your team’s work
  • Work closely with other teams & functions to coordinate dependencies and remove obstacles for your team along the way
  • Possess a continuous learner and continuous improvement mindset
Who you are:
  • 7+ years of engineering, product management, or relevant experience at an Internet and/or Technology company
  • Broad technical expertise, previous experience working in ad tech (specifically auction or decision engine systems) is a plus.
  • Previous experience working on back end technical platforms and defining requirements for complex systems.
  • Fluency in SQL for self-service data analysis purposes
  • Deep experience leading cross-functional teams to deliver distinctive impact in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Proven ability to think strategically and execute solutions to address both defined and undefined problems
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels of an organization

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
