Deerpath Capital is a leading direct lending firm specializing in providing first lien senior debt financing to middle market companies. Deerpath is focused on providing debt capital for acquisitions, refinancings, ownership transitions and growth capital to companies in the U.S. lower middle market. Deerpath has investment offices in New York, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles and Fort Lauderdale, as well as overseas investor relations offices in London, Seoul, Tokyo and Brisbane. The firm employs approximately 100 employees globally. 


 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist the tax manager with all aspects of the tax compliance process for the funds, GPs and management company.
  • Work closely with the accounting team and tax manager to create and support quarterly and annual tax reporting processes and accruals.
  • Assist with review of agreements, organizational structure, and various legal documents as it relates to tax matters.
  • Review tax workpapers, Schedule K-1s, informational and international filings and tax returns prepared by an outsourced tax team, for funds, GPs and management company.
  • Maintain a schedule of all tax filings and work with the outsourced tax team to make sure all filings are filed timely.
  • Monitor and communicate legislative and regulatory tax law changes and help create strategies to capitalize on changes to tax legislation.
  • Assist in responding to federal and state tax notices.
  • Maintenance of Forms W-8/W-9 and formation documents.


 

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting/finance or related field is required.
  • 3-5 years’ experience working in tax and/or financial services, private/debt industry, Big 4 experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of credit funds and their relevant tax issues a plus.
  • Knowledge of international tax filings and transfer pricing a plus.
  • CPA license a plus.
  • Team oriented personality.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
