We are looking for a Sr Staff Systems Engineer focused on component level architecture, interfaces, and integration with software and hardware items to join our team. The goal of a Sr Staff Systems Engineer at Wisk is to work with a team of systems engineers and integrators, in addition to software engineers and developers, to design and build the Data Services for our Remote Supervision Segment through early stage development, ensuring that our autonomous aircraft performs and operates safely in an urban air-mobility (UAM) environment. You will contribute to and provide technical leadership to a Systems Engineering team responsible for the functional, logical, and physical architecture and integration, as well as interface and requirements deliverables. In addition to Systems Engineering activities, you will coordinate with Software Engineering and support lower level interface development, requirement definition, and architecture.
The successful candidate has substantial experience applying Systems Engineering at the system, sub-system, or component level (L2-L3) in complex avionics or other aviation related systems. The candidate is familiar with MBSE (SysML), and has some experience at the software level (item level, L4 or below). The candidate should be proactive, self-motivated, able to work in ambiguous situations, and have good prioritization skills. Support and contribute to a high performing Systems Engineering team to develop functions, architecture, requirements, integrate between system interfaces, and develop process strategy, responsible for delivering high quality Systems Engineering artifacts for a novel type of aircraft development targeting the autonomous UAM market.
Apply Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) in the development of our Autonomous UAM through behavior development, function decomposition, architecture, requirements and ICD definition.
Collaborate with Software Engineers to align Component to Item level requirements, interfaces, and architecture.
You will write requirements, contribute to the MBSE deliverables, architecture, and ICD definition
Ensure your work product meets the technical standards established by the program.
Support execution of multiple trade studies needed to achieve safety critical systems architectural solutions that meet performance, size, weight, power and safety requirements as applicable from the FAA/EASA regulations.
You will exemplify the culture, mission, values, vision and quality policy of the organization, while supporting the team with technical guidance and mentorship.
Requirements
B.S. in engineering and 12+ years experience in systems engineering
Some experience in software engineering or development
Experience applying Systems Engineering methods on complex aircraft development programs
Hands on experience in development and decomposition of requirements, developing and allocating functions, and interfacing with certification and systems safety teams to deliver certification deliverables.
Hands on experience defining lower level architectures and interfaces
Familiarity with ARP4754A, DO-160, DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4761, Part 23/25, regulations, AC XX.1309, or similar standards
Experience in requirements management tools such as Polarion, Doors, Siemens Teamcenter, Requiem etc.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Previous system development, design, manufacturing, or flight test experience
Desired
Experience with an aircraft or UAM development program from conceptual design through certification
Experience with aircraft (UAM or UAV) ground systems
Experience with MBSE process, language (SysML, ARCADIA) and tools (CAMEO, CAPELLA, etc.) and its use in complex system development
Experience with coding prototypes or demonstrations
Experience with human machine interface/user experience regarding use of aircraft systems

Pay range the company expects to pay: $178,000 - 210,000 per year - The starting base salary within this range for this role varies based on factors such as your geographical location, and your relevant job-related experience that is consistent with a business necessity.
