Lead the development of protocol tools and frameworks to enhance the Ethereum developer experience, focusing on rapid delivery and technical mentorship.
The summary above was generated by AI

Who are we?

We believe Ethereum has the potential to solve some of humanity’s most crucial coordination issues. Since our initial inception as a research group, we have sought to scale both its technology and values.

At present, the most pressing bottleneck to the growth of Ethereum is its performance and scalability. We are building the most elegant solution to this problem. We do this in the open (under an MIT open source license) because we believe in open source innovation and its ability to accelerate growth.

OP Labs contributes to the Optimism protocol, an extension to Ethereum that scales both its technology and values. Optimism enables orders of magnitude of improved performance and scalability to Ethereum while doubling down on its commitment to public goods.

The Optimism Collective leads the blockchain protocol landscape, dedicated to fostering a scalable and sustainable ecosystem. Optimism’s ethos, in sync with Ethereum's vision, tackles pivotal coordination challenges of the digital age. Optimism’s goal is to harmonize private incentives with public good, shaping a resilient future for the Internet. Optimism’s scope spans diverse areas like Gaming, DeFi, NFTs, and Enterprise.

Position Overview:

We’re looking for a tech lead to develop the platform to support the full lifecycle of protocol feature development. This encompasses all protocol developer tooling and frameworks to enable protocol engineers to ship capabilities quickly and confidently on stable foundations.

This is a critical and high-impact role responsible for driving the roadmap and delivery of capabilities that accelerate protocol feature development for both OP Labs engineering teams and the broader Collective.

What are the role responsibilities?

  • Architect and implement tools, frameworks, SDKs and APIs to increase protocol development velocity and create an industry-leading protocol developer experience

  • Drive the execution of the protocol developer experience roadmap in close partnership with Engineering Management, Product and Engineering stakeholders

  • Act as a force multiplier for the team - drive the technical vision and architecture for protocol developer tooling and mentor other engineers

  • Be highly customer-centric, partnering closely with other engineering teams and stakeholders to understand protocol developer needs and rapidly deliver impactful solutions

What skills do you bring?

  • Hands-on experience with Golang, Ethereum developer tooling ecosystem (e.g., Kurtosis, Hardhat, Foundry), operational experience with Kubernetes (e.g., IaC such as Terraform) and public cloud infrastructure (e.g., GCP, AWS)

  • Track-record of working collaboratively with developers to create impactful developer tools that meaningfully improve developer velocity - demonstrates strong developer empathy

  • Prior experience working in the Web3 space with exposure to protocol development, either directly or in a supporting capacity

  • Exhibits high agency, high ownership and pragmatism - this is someone who likes to and is capable of getting stuff done and drives impactful results

  • Able to effectively balance between strategic and execution-focused contributions in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
