Boston Dynamics seeks a highly experienced and technically proficient Senior SQA Engineer to lead the quality assurance execution and automation efforts for the Atlas Humanoid Robot. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing and maintaining the core regression suite, contributing high-quality code to the shared automation framework, and ensuring the technical rigor of testing across complex robotics systems.

To be successful in this role you will require a blend of advanced coding skill, deep domain knowledge, and meticulous execution. You will be the technical expert for SQA execution, driving the creation of quality evidence for releases, and acting as a key contributor to the release management process. Your contributions will directly determine the stability and readiness of Atlas's foundational software systems.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Test & Automation Design: Design, develop, and maintain the comprehensive manual and automated overall regression test suite, focusing on integration stability.

  • Automation Contribution: Apply strong coding abilities to contribute new, architecturally sound test modules and libraries to the core automation framework.

  • Release Contribution & Reporting: Contribute heavily to generating detailed Test Execution Reports for major milestones and releases, clearly documenting coverage and communicating quality status to the manager and development teams.

  • Release Management Execution: Be responsible for the team's execution of the full regression test suite before each release to ensure high quality for major deployments.

  • Mentorship & Guidance: Provide technical guidance, code review, and mentorship to Junior SQA Engineers, ensuring high standards for their daily validation, test design, and test automation contribution.

  • Process Improvement: Identify bottlenecks and gaps in the SQA process and testing coverage, driving continuous improvement in execution efficiency and reliability.

Qualifications
  • 5-7+ years of experience in Software QA Engineering, Test Automation, or Software Development, with a history of shipping and supporting product releases.

  • Prior experience with testing software on hardware systems such as robotics, automotive, or embedded devices.

  • Proficient in test automation with a strong base in Python or a similar language.

  • Expertise in designing comprehensive test plans and executing functional, integration, and regression testing with strong manual rigor.

  • Expertise in Defect Lifecycle Management using defect tracking systems (e.g., Jira) for precise defect reporting, verification, and analysis.

  • Solid understanding of CI/CD practices and experience integrating and monitoring automated tests within continuous integration tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with safety-critical systems or real-time control systems testing.

  • Operational familiarity with a Linux development environment, e.g., shell scripting.

  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis on complex, cross-functional system failures.

The pay range for this position is between $99,544 to $136,887 annually.
