At MNTN, we put our people first, full stop. This allows our company culture to be defined by our team members and their shared values, like trust, ambition, quality, radical honesty, and compassionate leadership. It’s why we all really love working for the Hardest Working Software in Television™ (and also why we were named one of Ad Age’s Best Places To Work in 2025.)

We pride ourselves on bringing unrivaled performance and simplicity to Connected TV advertising. Our self-serve technology makes running TV ads as easy as search and social, helping brands drive measurable conversions, revenue, site visits, and more. It’s what led MNTN to being named one of Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies in 2023. You can learn more about us and everything we do by visiting https://mountain.com/.

We’re committed to innovation that empowers, not replaces. At MNTN, AI is a tool for growth, enhancing efficiency while keeping a people-first approach. Our goal is to streamline workflows and drive new solutions—without compromising the human element that makes our company great.

So if wanting to do more, own more, and make a bigger impact comes naturally to you, then you may be the person we're looking for to join us in our next stage of growth.

At MNTN, we're looking for a Senior Software Engineer for our Attribution squad, the team behind Verified Visits™, our proprietary attribution system that helps brands finally answer the age-old marketing question: "Did this actually work?" Spoiler: it did, and you'll be a part of the team making it happen.

Our microservices handle hundreds of millions of requests per day, powering a real-time behavioral marketing platform that drives performance in cross-device advertising. We heavily utilize open source technology alongside in-house solutions to meet the low-latency demands of rapid-response advertising.

What You'll Do

  • Design and build a robust attribution platform that reaches the right audience, anywhere, anytime
  • Build high-volume Kotlin services that are reliable at scale on GCP/GKE
  • Design and own data pipelines using SQLMesh, Airflow, and BigQuery to power attribution analytics and downstream products
  • Write and optimize SQL against large datasets for both production services and analytical workloads
  • Collaborate with and explain complex technical issues to product teams and partner engineering squads
  • Mentor engineers across the team and raise the bar on design, testing, and operational quality
  • Optimize and enhance existing services and pipelines

What Success Looks Like

  • Within 90 days, you've ramped on the Attribution stack, shipped meaningful changes to production, and are comfortable navigating our service topology and data model
  • You own new data pipelines end-to-end from requirements through SQLMesh/Airflow design, deployment, and on-call. You partner with data analysts to make attribution data trustworthy and easy to consume
  • You're a trusted technical voice in cross-squad discussions, helping shape attribution-adjacent work and mentoring engineers through design and code review

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of backend development experience, ideally in Kotlin (Java or Scala also welcome)
  • 3+ years writing production SQL: query optimization, window functions, and schema design against large datasets
  • Experience designing and operating data pipelines with tools like SQLMesh, Airflow, dbt, or similar
  • Experience with cloud data warehouses (BigQuery preferred; Snowflake, Redshift, etc. also relevant)
  • Experience with microservice architectures running on Kubernetes (GKE preferred)
  • Experience with event streaming (Kafka or similar)
  • Python experience for scripting and pipeline work
  • Strong knowledge of modern design patterns and distributed systems fundamentals
  • Comfortable writing effective unit and integration tests with frameworks
  • Proficient with Git and a Linux/UNIX environment
  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as Cassandra (preferred)
  • Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction across a team

MNTN Perks

  • 100% remote within the US
  • Flexible vacation policy
  • Annual vacation allowance for travel related expenses
  • Three-day weekend every month of the year
  • Competitive compensation
  • 100% healthcare coverage
  • 401k plan
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for dependent, medical, and dental care
  • Access to coaching, therapy, and professional development

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
