Job Summary

Do you want to work in a team where learning new things is a daily routine? Do you want to be part of the AI movement that is shaping the IT industry? Become a member of a team that will play a critical role in infusing Red Hat products with generative AI. Our aim is to develop a platform other teams at Red Hat will use to quickly and easily develop virtual assistants for Red Hat products and we seek an engineer who will help us make this happen. Be prepared to work in a highly distributed environment which is largely unshaped and very fast paced, adding a bit of startup freshness and agility to our corporate stability. In this role, you will have a leading role in designing architecture and delivering implementation of a generative AI client platform. You will also be part of a broader ecosystem which will give Red Hat customers and the open source community the ability to be self-sufficient in deploying and operating virtual assistants for Red Hat products. As such, we need highly collaborative and self-driven individuals who seek to have a broad impact.

Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Leadership in architectural designs, technology choices as well as setting and meeting high bar for quality that will impact adoption by a very diverse group of internal consumers.

  • Participation in team organization that will enable efficient fast-paced development

  • Participation in developing features, fixing bugs, mitigating security threads, reviewing code and writing tests for the ROAD project

  • Familiarity with open-source development process

  • Designing and implementing automated test cases

  • Ensuring test plans for the code you create exist and that documentation is correct

  • Exercising customer centricity to deliver results which other teams will want to use.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work with distributed teams.

Required Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, or equivalent related work experience

  • Experience with generative AI, at minimum as advanced user level

  • Understanding the elementary concepts of generative AI like prompt tuning, prompt engineering, RAG, tokenization, chunking

  • Experience with distributed version control systems like Git

  • 2+ years of experience developing software in Python or similar high level language

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies with minimal guidance; willingness to learn and work with new technologies

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work with distributed teams.

Preferred skills

  • Experience working with vector databases

  • Experience designing, developing, troubleshooting and testing multi-agent architecture

  • Experience working with langchain or other similar technology for virtual assistant development

The salary range for this position is $127,890.00 - $211,180.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
