This is a hybrid opportunity, requiring 3 days onsite our corporate office in either Rolle, CH or Bidart, FR.

Your Mission 

As our Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining core systems, while contributing to technical initiatives and ensuring solutions meet both business and technical requirements. The components you'll own are essential to SOPHiA GENETICS’ operations, enabling the processing of medical data into insights for oncologists. They serve as the bridge between Data Scientists’ output and platform visualization. Your expertise will ensure these components not only scale effectively but also remain efficient in terms of performance and cost, while maintaining overall system health.

Backend System Development & Maintenance:

• Develop, and maintain robust backend services that are scalable and efficient. Contribution to the design.
• Implement new features and enhancements based on evolving business and technical requirements.
• Ensure backend systems are seamlessly integrated and perform reliably under workloads.

System Optimization & Scaling:

• Focus on optimizing system performance, resource utilization, and task execution times.

New Feature Development & Custom Job Creation:

• Develop and implement new features and custom job components to support changing business needs.
• Ensure the system can handle new requirements and integrate features smoothly into the existing environment.

Deployment & Infrastructure Automation:

• Optimize deployment workflows, automate pipelines, and enhance infrastructure management for efficient and reliable application deployment.
• Contribute to improvements in system stability, minimizing downtime and ensuring seamless rollouts.

Monitoring & Observability:

• Implement and maintain monitoring systems to track performance and identify bottlenecks.
• Use observability tools like Grafana and Loki to improve system reliability and provide insights into operational health.

• Solid proficiency in Java for back-end development.
• Solid understanding of backend technologies and microservices architecture.
• Experience in optimization of system performance, manage resources effectively, and improve execution time
• Proficiency with databases like MySQL, MariaDB, and DuckDB, including design and query optimization.
• Familiarity with Linux environments and GitLab for version control and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with scalable architecture, particularly in cloud environments and containerized infrastructure.
• Experience in Micronaut for developing microservices and backend solutions is a strong plus.
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools like Grafana and Loki.
• Front-end development skills are a plus but not required.
• Knowledge of Kafka is a plus
• Experience in genomics is beneficial.
