The Importance of Hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Storefront

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic frontend engineering team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Carewell's digital presence. You'll have the opportunity to make a significant impact as both an individual contributor and a mentor, working alongside a talented group of engineers to build cutting-edge services that enhance the Carewell experience for our caregivers.

What you'll do:

  • Be a pivotal member of the development team for a highly performant, SEO-optimized, and user-friendly website, ensuring that our caregivers have access to a seamless and informative digital platform.
  • Create highly cacheable pages that deliver lightning-fast load times and exceptional user experiences using React, Typescript, and Next.js.
  • Implement SEO strategies that drive organic traffic, improve search engine rankings, and increase Carewell's online visibility.
  • Ensure the new site experience adheres to web accessibility standards, making it inclusive and usable for all caregivers.
  • Design and implement clean, testable, reusable components. 
  • Work closely with fellow engineers, designers, and product managers to bring the new site vision to life, while also providing guidance.

KPIs:

  • Site performance metrics: Significant page load times, Core Web Vitals, and overall site speed improvements.
  • SEO performance: Increased organic traffic, higher search engine rankings, and improved keyword visibility.
  • User engagement: Enhanced user satisfaction, increased time on site, and reduced bounce rates.
  • Accessibility compliance: Full adherence to WCAG guidelines and other accessibility standards.

What you'll need:

  • 5+ years experience building clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, or equivalent experience demonstrating your expertise in front-end development.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail, maintaining structured and organized code and component libraries, with shared responsibility for maintaining concise and understandable code.
  • Hands-on experience in e-commerce storefront development, showcasing your ability to build and optimize online shopping experiences is a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of React, Typescript, Next.js and their capabilities, particularly in creating highly cacheable pages and optimizing performance.
  • A strong understanding of SEO principles and techniques, coupled with the ability to implement performance optimizations that deliver measurable results.
  • Commitment to creating accessible web experiences and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong proficiency with common web technologies and integrations: CMS (Contentful, Builder), Google Tag Manager, Design Language System (Storybook), automated UI testing (Selenium, Playwright)
