Senior Software Engineer: Ruby + JS/TS

About the Role
Schools and districts rely on our client to help families and educators communicate and partner to support their students, and we need you!

In this role, you’ll build and maintain scalable systems that deliver real value to educators. You’ll work across the stack—designing, coding, testing, deploying, and debugging—while continuously improving performance, security, and maintainability.

Beyond writing code, you'll lead projects, break down work, and guide other engineers, helping the team stay aligned and efficient. If you have a strong product and customer focus, thrive in a collaborative environment, and enjoy mentoring others, we’d love to hear from you!
What you need to succeed in this role
● Web development with large-scale services on Ruby/Python and JavaScript/TypeScript
● Service and application development with MySQL/Postgres

● Deploying and operating systems at scale on AWS/Aurora/RDS/SQS

● Proficiency with RESTful API development

● Familiarity with incremental, agile development processes, as well as CI/CD

● Experience leading projects, breaking down work, and guiding engineers to deliver impactful solutions

● A strong product and customer focus, ensuring that engineering efforts align with real user needs
If you get the job, you will have to:
● Partner closely with customers and Product Owners to define, build, and ship new features for educators on the platform.
● Partner closely with peers in engineering to constantly improve the cost, security, scalability, and maintainability of the platform
● Work across our ecosystem - web, service layer, database, message queues - to deliver value for our customers
● Operate our production systems at scale by identifying and fixing bugs, reviewing your peers’ code, and debugging systems when faults arise.
● Design, break down, release, and lead projects that serve the educators who rely on the platform every day.
● Provide mentorship and technical guidance to other engineers
