We are looking for software engineers to join our Planning and Controls team to redefine the way we drive. As part of this team you will build our algorithms for various design domains, which spans challenges from achieving a comfortable driving experience, occlusion handling, driver-in-the-loop situations, all the way to the long tail of traffic rules that need to be handled fully autonomously. You will have the opportunity to deploy your algorithms and truly have the first-hand experience of your work driving the cars of the future.

What you will be doing:

  • Develop reliable, redundant, and safety-critical algorithms for behavior and motion planning on highways and urban roads

  • Work on fundamental problems in redundant actuation, degraded operation, and fail-safe control

  • Architect, design, and implement new behavior planning features based on product driven requirements

  • Test and validate the functionalities in various scenarios in the simulation environment as well as on the road

  • Craft an autonomous system with safety concept that works in multiple different settings, e.g. geographical regions, sensors, map availability, and diverse environmental conditions

  • Collaborate with a diverse group of engineers of other domains including perception, mapping, vehicle control, and user experience

What we need to see:

  • BS or higher in an engineering technical field (Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, etc.) or equivalent experience

  • 8+ years proven experience in software development

  • Must have applied robotics experience

  • Good understanding and working knowledge of C/C++

  • Familiarity with Python

  • Comfortable developing in Linux or another Unix based system

  • Ability to think analytically and tackle technical problems in a compute constrained system

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • 2+ years of experience in AV software development and deploying code in production

  • PhD in a relevant field or related research experience

  • Planning background is a bonus

  • Knowledge of CUDA is a plus

The base salary range is 184,000 USD - 356,500 USD. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions.

You will also be eligible for equity and benefits. NVIDIA accepts applications on an ongoing basis.
