Nasuni is expanding its Platform development team with a Senior Software Engineer. This engineer should have strong Linux and CentOS development experience, particularly in delivering appliance-grade software that runs on physical hardware, virtualized environments, and cloud platforms.


Role Overview

Nasuni is hiring a Senior Software Engineer (Platform) to develop and maintain the Linux-based foundation of our NAS appliance platform.

This role is ideal for a systems-focused engineer who:

  • Thrives close to the Linux OS layer
  •  Understands filesystem behavior and performance tuning
  • Enjoys debugging complex production issues
  • Takes ownership of reliability in appliance-grade systems

Level & Scope Definition 

Autonomy

  • Independently delivers complex Linux systems components
  • Owns debugging and resolution of production-level issues
  • Contributes to system reliability and performance tuning

Decision Authority

  • Makes implementation decisions within defined architecture
  • Influences performance optimization and upgrade mechanisms
  • Escalates architectural tradeoffs appropriately

Impact Radius

  • Directly impacts appliance uptime and customer reliability
  • Works cross-functionally with Support, QA, and Engineering

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Linux systems software for Nasuni’s NAS appliance
    • Implement deployment, upgrade, and runtime operational workflows
    • Debug customer-reported Linux and filesystem issues
    • Optimize performance across memory, storage, networking subsystems
    • Develop automated tests using pytest
    • Contribute to build and release workflows
    • Partner with customer support on escalations

Must-Have Qualifications 

  • 5–8 years developing Linux-based systems or appliance software
    • Strong proficiency in Python, Bash, and C
    • Deep understanding of Linux internals (systemd, memory, storage, networking)
    • Experience with XFS or ext4 filesystems
    • Experience tuning system performance in production environments
    • Experience with ESX, KVM, or Hyper-V
    • Experience debugging multithreaded and I/O-heavy Linux applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience integrating with AWS, Azure, or GCP
    • Experience with Jenkins, GitHub workflows, rpm/yum packaging
    • Familiarity with TCP/UDP/HTTP networking protocols
    • PostgreSQL familiarity

Experience:

  • BE/B.Tech, ME/M.Tech in computer science (or) Electronics and Communications (or) MCA
  • 7 to 10 years’ previous experience in the industry in system/platform area.
