Built is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Capital Management team. This team is responsible for the financial platform that underpins real estate and construction financing—modeling capital structures, enforcing allocation constraints, and supporting secure, compliant financial transactions across the platform. Our mission is to grow the volume of real estate capital flowing through Built by enabling support for increasingly sophisticated financial agreements, multi-currency accounting, and flexible, high-integrity transaction handling.

As a Senior Engineer on the team, you’ll design and build the systems that structure and facilitate capital flow through the Built ecosystem. From representing complex financing arrangements to executing high-integrity transactions across the construction supply chain, your work will power critical capital flows. You’ll contribute to a platform that serves as both the system of record and execution engine for governed, auditable, and scalable financial movement.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver platform capabilities that power the full lifecycle of capital—structuring, allocation, and execution through auditable financial transactions.

  • Lead medium-to-large initiatives from technical discovery through implementation, balancing long-term platform scalability with real-world user needs.

  • Evolve architecture and data models to support auditability, performance, and integration across domains and downstream systems.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering peers to shape flexible, enforceable financial workflows.

  • Uphold engineering excellence through clear documentation, robust test coverage, and proactive monitoring.

  • Foster a collaborative team culture through mentorship, thoughtful code reviews, and clear, respectful communication

Tech Stack:

  • Nest.JS with TypeScript for our backend framework

  • React, single-spa, and GraphQL on the front end

  • DynamoDB for our database

  • AWS for infrastructure and hosting

  • Docker & Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration

  • GitHub for source code management and continuous integration

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in computer science or a directly related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • 5+ years of professional experience building and maintaining web applications and distributed systems.

  • Strong backend engineering skills, with experience designing and implementing well-structured systems using modern, statically typed languages and proven architectural patterns.

  • Experienced in building front-end experiences with component-based frameworks like React, and able to contribute effectively across the stack.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a track record of taking ownership—delivering high-quality solutions in complex, evolving domains.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to work effectively across disciplines and give/receive thoughtful feedback.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience building or contributing to internal platforms, shared services, or domain-driven architectures in a multi-team environment.

  • Experience designing APIs around clearly defined domain boundaries and business capabilities, with a focus on long-term ownership, composability, and clarity of intent.

  • Experience working in containerized, cloud-native environments, including orchestration tools like Kubernetes.

  • Exposure to financial systems, capital workflows, or transactional data—particularly where auditability, compliance, or accounting structures are critical.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in event-driven or distributed systems, with a focus on clarity, observability, and resilience.
