About the role

As a member of the Zillow Group SRE team, you will play a key role in architecting, developing, and deploying systems and processes that support hundreds of services and microservices across the company. Your work will directly impact the reliability and scalability of Zillow’s infrastructure, enabling engineers to deliver innovative products and experiences.

As A Senior Site Reliability Engineer, You Will Get To:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable infrastructure for Zillow’s services and microservices.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop solutions that improve system reliability and performance.

  • Automate operational processes to reduce manual intervention and human error.

  • Provide world-class support to engineers, assisting with troubleshooting and debugging.

  • Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure service health.

  • Share on-call responsibilities with the SRE team to maintain high availability.

  • Contribute to the development and documentation of best practices for infrastructure and operations.

  • Drive continuous improvement in system security, scalability, and efficiency.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $160,900.00 - $257,100.00 annually. This base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations. In Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Vermont the standard base pay range for this role is $152,900.00 - $244,300.00 annually. The base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. Employees in this role will not be paid below the salary threshold for exempt employees in the state where they reside.

Who you are
  • 5+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, Systems Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering roles.

  • Strong understanding of SDLC principles, architecture, operations, and Infrastructure as Code.

  • Proficient in scripting or coding with Python, Java, and/or Go.

  • Experienced in implementing and managing monitoring, logging, and alerting for distributed systems.

  • Skilled in writing clear, comprehensive technical documentation.

  • Passionate about building and fostering good engineering practices and processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
