About Wander

Wander pioneered the “hotelification” of vacation rentals – combining the quality of a luxury hotel with the comfort of a private vacation home. Now we’re taking our verticalized travel experience guests love global with an end-to-end travel platform for trips, experiences and concierge service.

About this role

We’re hiring a Senior SEO Manager to own organic search at Wander end‑to‑end. You’ll be the day‑to‑day driver of our SEO program—setting priorities, partnering with Engineering and Brand, and working closely with our agency to ship technical, content, and digital PR initiatives that move bookings and revenue. You’ll operationalize our new AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) stack, build dashboards to connect work to business outcomes, and create playbooks that make Wander “search‑ready” by default for new homes, destinations, and product surfaces. This role is looking for someone who can move from strategy to hands‑on execution, communicates clearly, and can turn ambiguity into a focused roadmap.

What you’ll do

Own the SEO strategy & roadmap

  • Define our SEO north‑star metrics (e.g., non‑brand organic bookings/revenue, qualified sessions, conversion, property occupancy lift) and build the measurement plan.

  • Build and iterate a quarterly roadmap across technical SEO, content, and authority/digital PR—sequencing bets by impact, effort, and confidence.

Lead execution (hands‑on + cross‑functional)

  • Run day‑to‑day program management: standups, backlog, briefs, QA, and post‑mortems.

  • Partner closely with Engineering to improve crawlability, indexation, site architecture, internal linking, Core Web Vitals, canonicalization, structured data, and JavaScript rendering.

  • Ship content that ranks and converts: own keyword/opportunity mapping, content architecture, briefs, on‑page optimization, and internal linking modules for property, destination, and inspiration pages.

  • Drive authority growth with our agency: campaign strategy, newsroom cadence, asset/angle development, prospecting guidelines, and quality control.

  • Operationalize AEO (Answer Engine Optimization): enrich and validate schema, target SERP features/AI overviews, and use tools to monitor surfaces and fill gaps.

Make Wander “search‑ready” by default

  • Establish SEO guardrails in our design system and CMS/templates; add automated checks to CI/CD where useful.

  • Create repeatable playbooks for new home launches, new destinations, and programmatic landing pages.

  • Champion E‑E‑A‑T signals (expert voices, sourcing standards, first‑party data, reviews) in content and product surfaces.

Measure, learn, and scale

  • Build dashboards (GSC/GA4 + BI) and run cohort/forecast analyses to tie SEO work to bookings and revenue.

  • Design pragmatic test‑and‑learn frameworks for SEO (pre/post analyses, synthetic control, holdouts where feasible).

  • Report progress and learnings clearly to Growth leadership and exec stakeholders.

Qualifications

Must‑have

  • 5–8+ years owning SEO for high‑growth consumer brands.

  • Proven track record driving material organic revenue/booking growth.

  • Strong technical SEO chops (crawl/indexation, architecture, CWV, schema, canonicalization, hreflang where applicable, log‑file analysis) and experience partnering directly with engineering.

  • Content strategy + on‑page optimization experience across landing pages, blogs/guides, and programmatic templates.

  • Authority growth experience: digital PR/link earning and off‑page quality standards.

  • Agency/vendor management experience

  • Tools: Google Search Console, GA4, Ahrefs and/or Semrush, Profound (or similar AEO monitoring), and a modern BI stack.

Nice‑to‑have

  • Travel/hospitality or marketplace experience; local/destination SEO at scale.

  • Experience with structured data for Lodging/VacationRental‑like entities and commerce.

  • Familiarity with modern web stacks (React/Next.js, headless CMS) and basics of HTML/CSS/JS; SQL for analysis a plus.

  • Experience collaborating with Creative/Brand on content and with Performance teams to separate brand vs. non‑brand impacts.

  • Comfort leading a small pod with agency partners.

Benefits
  • Competitive salary and equity package

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • Remote-first culture

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
