Security @ Compass 

We are hands-on security engineers helping to build secure, resilient, and scalable web platforms. We work with a diverse set of teams to provide and support transparent and automated security tooling and services. We architect secure web products, perform simulated attacks, identify weaknesses, and work with teams to remediate and protect our products. You will help lead our efforts to build security as a service to drive safe-by-default environments and drive customer trust.

What you will do:  

  • ​​This role involves a combination of partnership, hands-on engineering, infrastructure security, and automation.
  • Enable autonomy for engineers to develop securely through safe-by-default tooling, configuration, and policy. All while ensuring engineering velocity is maintained by automating security requirements and building guardrails.
  • Design and implement scalable systems and controls to secure cloud infrastructure
  • Collaborate with engineering and security teams to drive deployment of security enhancements and control changes across our cloud infrastructure and development platform.
  • Build enduring and high-trust partnerships with colleagues across Engineering
  • Help investigate and respond to security events, then work with teams to guide and improve their practices
  • Be a go-to expert for cloud security, coming up with smart ways to keep things secure while still moving fast to meet urgent needs.
  • Participate in code reviews, write tests, and contribute to documentation and operational excellence initiatives.

Who you are: 

  • You take an automation-first approach to everything you do. You understand the challenges of scale for security and leverage automation whenever possible
  • A proactive mindset, with the ability to identify and address security gaps or inefficiencies through automation and tooling.
  • Expertise in the security of cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP).
  • Proficient in a programming or scripting language (e.g. Python, Golang, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to think critically and objectively assess security risks.
  • Excitement about collaborating with cross-functional teams to build secure, reliable systems that scale globally.
  • Able to communicate about security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques in an accessible way to a variety of audiences
  • Comfortable teaching and leading development teams toward better security outcomes

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of containerization, and orchestration technology such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience in GCP and multi-cloud networks and infrastructure, and designing cloud agnostic systems.

Compensation: The base pay range for this position is $113,000-$171,000; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Bonuses and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of benefits. Base pay is based on market location. Minimum wage for the position will always be met.
