THE ROLE

FL110 is seeking an experienced, creative, and talented Scientist, Computational Protein Design across Scientist, Senior Scientist, and Principal Scientist levels to join our team. Title will be determined by merit and experience level.  

You will have prior experience with protein design and engineering, with a deep understanding of biochemical and computational considerations for protein design while having expertise in a high-level programming language such as Python and modern HPC and cloud compute workflows.

This role is critical to advancing our mission to develop novel proteins with specific functionalities using state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms and computational methods. The successful candidate will work closely with biologists, bioinformaticians, and other ML engineers to innovate at the intersection of technology and biology.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and apply protein modeling and design strategies to advance the company’s platform.
  • Devise, train, refine, and deploy deep neural network models using public and proprietary sequence, structure, and function data.
  • Collaborate closely with experimental scientists to close the model-test-learn loop.
  • Drive external collaborations where necessary to augment internal capabilities.
  • Create, maintain, and update documents for all aspects of the development process as well as contributing to generating intellectual property

Basic Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience (3+ years) in protein design and engineering, with a deep understanding of biochemical and computational considerations for protein design
  • Expertise with a high-level programming language such as Python and modern HPC and cloud compute workflows
  • Hands-on experience with RosettaFold, RFdiffusion, AlphaFold, or ESMFold
  • Deep structural knowledge of proteins
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, ability to work with colleagues from diverse scientific backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with researchers from diverse fields, including computational and experimental biologists, and provide scientific guidance, support as needed

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 5 years of post-doctoral or equivalent industry experience in protein design or related field
  • Strong publication record in protein design and engineering for therapeutic protein applications

The salary range for this role is $115,000 - $236,500. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience. FL110 currently offers healthcare coverage, annual incentive program, retirement benefits and a broad range of other benefits. Compensation and benefits information is based on FL110’s good faith estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future.
