POSITION PURPOSE:  
This is a full-time, exempt position that will be reporting to the Manager, SCADA Engineering. This individual will be responsible for working in a cross functional manner across all departments within Key Capture Energy on al stages of project pipelines. They will be directly responsible for the development, testing, commissioning, and management of all SCADA solutions for grid connected energy storage in a variety of applications. These include stand-alone battery energy storage systems, thermal hybrids, and solar hybrids both owned and/or operated by Key Capture Energy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work with other teams within the business to develop and determine the SCADA requirements needed to support overall business objectives
    • Commercial – Contract review, document generation, input as subject matter expert
    • Development – Contract review, document generation, input as subject matter expert
    • Engineering – Hardware engineering, document creation and review o
    • Commissioning – On-site commissioning, documentation creation and review, 3rd party contractor management
    • Performance Engineering - Document generation and review, respond to data requests, Real-time troubleshooting (Site control and telemetry)
    • Operations - Document generation and review, respond to SCADA requests, Real-time troubleshooting (Site control and telemetry)
    • Market Operations - Respond to data and/or SCADA requests, real-time troubleshooting (telemetry)
    • Software Development - Respond to data and/or SCADA requests, real-time troubleshooting (telemetry)
  • Design, configure, and manage SCADA architecture across KCEs existing and future BESS sites (Local and Centralized)
  • Perform engineering due diligence of any SCADA/Controls design (i.e., design trade-off analysis, etc.)
  • Develop, deploy, and manage SCADA servers, including physical and virtualized systems
  • Develop and manage data pipelines to both local and remote databases
  • Ensure vendors are following proper procedures, documentation standards, testing procedures etc. to meet KCE’s needs & compliance requirements
  • Deliver project documentation including commissioning instructions, operator manuals and training material
  • Work with field and system operators to collect voice of customer requirements to improve usability of SCADA
  • Support regular updates for feature improvements and fixes (HMIs, etc.)
  • Manage and support issue ticketing closure for controls related field issues
  • Act as a subject matter expert for SCADA in New or Merger/Acquisition project contractual reviews
  • 24/7 on-call availability
  • All other duties as required

WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS:
  • 5+ years of SCADA design and implementation experience and minimum BS degree in associated field
  • Experience in HMI/UX design (experience in renewables preferred)
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing requirements and priorities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skill
  • Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition (preferred)
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols DNP3.0, Modbus, OPC-UA, BACnet
  • Programming language experience Structured Text (IEC 61131-3), Python, Jython, C, C++, SQL
  • Familiar with IEC standards for Industrial Controller Development (IEC 61131-3), Associated Data 
  • Types, and other IEC defined programming languages (Structure Text, Continuous Function Charts, Ladder Logic, Functional Block Diagrams, and Instruction Lists)
  • Experience with SEL RTACs and associated software (preferred)
  • Experience in server staging, deployment and management
  • Experience in database deployment and management (MySQL, MSSQL)
  • Experience with hypervisor and or containerized server deployment
  • Familiar with Agile work practices
  • Knowledge of NERC CIP cybersecurity standards and practices (preferred)
  • Basic understanding of AC Power (preferred)
  • Proven experience delivering time-pressured projects on-time and on-quality.
  • Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work in a small team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

  • Prolonged periods of working at a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to climb or balance
  • Must be able to stop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Must have the ability to identify and distinguish colors
