Job Description:

As a Senior Salesforce Administrator, you will be responsible for developing custom solutions on the Salesforce platform for our clients, configuring, deploying, and maintaining the lead routing infrastructure within Salesforce to support the optimization of lead assignment, eligibility logic, and automation rules. You will work closely with our clients to understand their business needs and translate them into effective and efficient Salesforce solutions. You will also collaborate with other members of the project team, including developers, business analysts, and project managers, to ensure that project objectives are met.

This role ensures that technical execution aligns with business goals, enabling high-quality leads to reach the right sales teams efficiently and with minimal manual intervention.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Assignment Rules: Configure, test, and refine lead assignment rules to ensure leads are routed based on territory, ownership, and qualification criteria
  • Duplicate Management: Implement deduplication rules using Salesforce native tools or third-party solutions (e.g., DemandTools, LeanData) to reduce lead clutter and ensure clean handoffs.
  • Automation & Reassignment Logic: Build workflows, process builders, or flows to support automated reassignment of leads based on inactivity, disqualification, or routing errors.
  • Validation & Exception Handling: Create custom validation rules and exception logic to catch and surface routing issues for review before they impact sales execution.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Partner with RevOps Architect and Data Strategist to ensure technical implementation supports overall lead management strategy.
  • Documentation & QA: Maintain clear documentation of routing logic and changes, and participate in testing and UAT to validate updates.
  • Develop custom solutions on the Salesforce platform using Apex, Visualforce, and other programming languages.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their business needs and translate them into effective Salesforce solutions.
  • Work with project team members to define project requirements, scope, and timelines.
  • Participate in project planning, including creating and maintaining project documentation, such as project plans, status reports, and issue logs.
  • Provide regular updates to project stakeholders on project status, risks, and issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to Salesforce applications.
  • Maintain a high level of technical expertise in Salesforce, including staying up-to-date with the latest releases and features.

Qualifications:

  • Salesforce Advanced certification is required.
  • At least 3 years of experience working as a Salesforce developer.
  • Strong knowledge of Salesforce development tools, including Apex, Visualforce, and Lightning.
  • Experience with Salesforce integration using APIs or other programming languages.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members and clients to achieve project objectives.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
