WHO WE ARE

GridUnity is the industry leader in interconnection life cycle management, delivering cutting-edge software solutions that eliminate bottlenecks in the interconnection process and accelerate the transition to a more affordable, sustainable, and resilient energy future.

Our Mission

We unite all grid interconnection stakeholders on a single platform that converts centralized data into actionable intelligence and accelerates the transition to a reliable, sustainable, and cost-efficient electric grid.

GridUnity is a trusted partner to leading utilities, grid operators, and policymakers. Our technology solutions tackle the interconnection queue backlog by significantly reducing processing times. Whether cutting transmission interconnection timelines from years to months or enabling distribution applications to be processed within a day, we help accelerate energy projects at every scale.

Our Vision
Energizing the planet with a faster, smarter, and more sustainable grid.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a Senior Sales Engineer, you will own the technical win for GridUnity’s most strategic and complex enterprise opportunities. Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer, this role blends deep technical expertise, consultative problem-solving, and sales partnership.

You will lead technical discovery, solution design, demos, and workshops while serving as the trusted technical advisor to utility engineers, planners, IT leaders, and executives. As GridUnity scales, you will also help shape best practices and lay the foundation for a future sales engineering team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESOwn the Technical Win in Strategic Deals
  • Lead all technical aspects of the sales cycle for large, complex enterprise accounts

  • Translate customer business problems into clear, credible technical solutions

  • Ensure proposed solutions are feasible, defensible, and aligned with customer operational realities

  • Serve as the trusted technical voice with engineers, planners, IT professionals, and executive stakeholders

Deliver Compelling, Outcome-Driven Demos & Workshops
  • Design and deliver demos aligned to customer workflows, pain points, and success metrics

  • Tailor demonstrations for different personas, including engineering, operations, and leadership

  • Run technical deep dives, whiteboarding sessions, and proof-of-concept workshops

  • Clearly articulate why the solution works, not just what it does

Partner Closely with Sales to Shape Strategy
  • Collaborate with account executives on discovery, deal strategy, and positioning

  • Help qualify opportunities by assessing technical fit, complexity, and risk early

  • Influence pricing, packaging, and scope by grounding proposals in technical reality

  • Anticipate objections and equip sales partners with credible, technically sound responses

Bridge Customer Needs Back to Product & Engineering
  • Act as a feedback loop between customers and internal product and engineering teams

  • Distinguish true product gaps from solvable configuration or process issues

  • Advocate for scalable, standards-based solutions over one-off customizations

  • Help inform roadmap prioritization based on revenue impact and strategic value

Establish Credibility, Trust, and Long-Term Value
  • Build trust with senior technical stakeholders through honesty, precision, and reliability

  • Set clear expectations around capabilities, timelines, and outcomes

  • Support smooth handoff to implementation and customer success teams

  • Represent GridUnity as a long-term thought partner, not just a product expert

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 10+ years of experience in Sales Engineering, Solutions Consulting, or Technical Pre-Sales

  • Proven experience supporting enterprise B2B SaaS sales cycles with large ACV deals

  • Deep understanding of data-centric platforms, including systems of record, analytics, integrations, APIs, and AI-enabled capabilities

  • Strong domain knowledge of transmission and distribution systems, including planning, grid reliability, regulatory frameworks, and interconnection challenges

  • Experience with distribution-level interconnection, DER integration, or hosting-capacity modeling

  • Demonstrated success translating customer pain points into solution architectures, not just feature demonstrations

  • Proven consulting experience organizing complex projects, analyzing operations, and delivering actionable recommendations

  • Excellent technical communication skills, including whiteboarding, executive-level explanations, and deep technical discussions

  • Strong systems thinking with the ability to explain how tools, data sources, and stakeholders fit together

  • Experience explaining and working with data models, data quality, integrations, ETL flows, analytics, dashboards, or AI-assisted tools

  • Track record of setting clear expectations and preventing over-customization to protect platform scalability

WHAT WILL SET YOU APART
  • Prior experience in the utilities or energy sector, including interconnection processes, grid operations, or regulatory environments

  • Experience supporting pilots, proof-of-concepts, or phased enterprise rollouts

  • Involvement in product feedback loops, roadmap influence, and scope definition

  • Leadership aptitude, including mentoring others or interest in growing into a people-management role

  • Experience acting as the bridge between customer needs and internal teams across sales, product, engineering, and customer success

Key Qualities of a successful GridUnity professional:

Intellectual Curiosity

Whether you're crafting messaging, running onboarding, closing a deal, or supporting a client post-go-live, you ask the deeper questions. Curiosity is core to how we operate: learning the customer’s business, understanding our platform’s full potential, and constantly improving how we grow, serve, and support. Curiosity fuels collaboration across every function on our growth team.

Natural Problem Solving

Every member of the team solves problems—from aligning internal stakeholders to unblocking a project or simplifying a complex customer ask. You anticipate challenges, propose thoughtful solutions, and take ownership. Whether you're refining a campaign, configuring a workflow, or reworking a delivery plan, you’re energized by ambiguity and driven to resolve it.

Subject Matter Expertise in the Energy Industry

We serve utilities, transmission providers, system operators, and regulators. To deliver value, every role on the team—sales, marketing, CS, support, and services—needs foundational knowledge of how the grid works. You don’t need to be a power engineer, but you should know the landscape: interconnection, planning, policy drivers, and the evolving stakeholder ecosystem.

SaaS Experience

From product marketing to onboarding to renewals, SaaS success depends on alignment across the entire customer lifecycle. You’ve worked with cloud platforms and understand how recurring value, user experience, and cross-functional delivery all drive retention and growth. Whether you're managing leads, accounts, or active deployments, you get the rhythm of modern SaaS.

Proven Organizational Skills

Our work spans long sales cycles, multi-phase implementations, ongoing support, and strategic account growth. You keep the threads clear, handoffs clean, and communication tight. You're experienced working across sales, marketing, customer success, support, and professional services—and you know how to bring people together to deliver consistent, end-to-end excellence.

Communication & Collaboration

We operate as a tightly aligned team across sales, marketing, customer success, support, and services. Clear, proactive communication is how we ensure no thread gets dropped and no customer is left guessing. Collaboration is more than coordination

It’s how we combine perspectives, share context, and co-create solutions that deliver consistent value. You know when to lean in, when to listen, and how to keep both teammates and customers informed and confident.

You’re skilled at communicating asynchronously. Writing with clarity, documenting decisions, and sharing updates in ways that keep work moving forward across time zones and schedules.

OUR CULTURE

We are a lean, fast-moving team that values bold thinking, reliability, and continuous learning. We operate with radical transparency, embrace scrappiness, and build solutions that anticipate customer needs. We also believe work should be fun and fulfilling — what we call “funfillment.”

The right candidate is energized by working in a scaling, mission-driven company where they can shape processes, wear multiple hats, and grow alongside the business.

BENEFITS/PERKS

  • Competitive compensation packages that recognize your expertise and contributions

  • Remote-first culture that provides flexibility and balance

  • Professional development opportunities, including training, mentorship, and career pathing

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance starting day one

  • Short- and long-term disability and basic life insurance at no cost to you

  • 401(k) plan with a 4% match to help secure your future

  • Flexible PTO and a supportive work culture that values balance

  • Mission-driven work with the opportunity to make a significant impact in the energy sector

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT

This position may involve access to data and systems subject to U.S. critical infrastructure protection regulations. Accordingly, this role is restricted to individuals who qualify as “U.S. persons,” defined by federal law as U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents (green card holders), asylees, or refugees.

OUR COMMITMENT TO APPLICANTS

GridUnity is an equal opportunity employer. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, arrest and conviction record, or any other characteristic protected under applicable law.

We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where every team member feels valued, supported, and able to bring their authentic self to work.
