Company Overview: Abiologics, Inc. is a privately held, early-stage biotechnology company on a mission to make biology better through an innovative therapeutic modality. We are pioneering the development of SynteinsTM, a transformational class of macromolecular medicines unlocked by novel synthetic and computational technologies. Abiologics is actively seeking exceptional scientists who are passionate about driving therapeutic modality innovation in biotechnology.

Abiologics was founded in Flagship Pioneering’s venture creation engine, where companies such as Moderna Therapeutics (NASDAQ: MRNA) and Generate Biomedicines were conceived and created. Since Flagship’s founding in 2000, the firm has originated and fostered the development of more than 100 scientific ventures resulting in more than 500 issued patents and more than 50 clinical trials for novel therapeutic agents.

Position Summary: We are looking for a highly motivated, broadly skilled and enthusiastic cell biologist to join our Pharmacology team. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing cell-based and biochemical assays to drive the Abiologics SynteinTM discovery platform. This dynamic role will collaborate cross-functionally with a diverse design-make-test team and have the opportunity to impact Abiologics’ platform and company growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute cell-based and biochemical assays to drive projects progression
  • Ensure rapid generation and accurate recording and reporting of high-quality data and communication with Chemistry and Computational colleagues
  • With guidance from manager, conceptualize, design and develop novel assays to advance pipeline programs
  • Effectively communicate scientific findings and ideas to a diverse team both informally and at project/company meetings

Qualifications:

  • BS or MS degree or equivalent experience in cell biology and 3+ years of industry experience in Pharma or Biotech
  • Track record of contribution to drug projects progression through in vitro pharmacology approaches
  • Technical expertise with mammalian cell culture including establishing and maintaining cell lines, transient and stable transfection, and reporter cell lines
  • Experience with primary cell culture and characterization, including tissue dissociation and cell isolation of various immune cell types
  • Proficient in industry-standard cell-based assay and bioanalytical techniques such as cellular/high content imaging and image analysis, flow cytometry, reporter gene, ELISA, enzymatic activity, receptor signaling
  • Bioanalytical skills with LC-MS desirable
  • Experience with lab automation and semi-automated workflows highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to excel in a fast-paced environment: self-driven, curious, creative, quick learner with a strong ability to drive towards progress
