The Principal/Senior Research Associate position will lead and perform routine and non-routine laboratory activities in accordance with appropriate safety, project management and documentation guidelines. The position supports the LNP, Nucleic Acid Medicine Team. The responsibilities include but are not limited to LNP production and characterization, testing and optimization of in vitro cell culture models, and analytical development. The position holder will also maintain laboratory supplies and equipment inventory. This position supports the activities of Scientists / Sr. Scientists and the continuous improvement of department and laboratory processes, areas and standards. The position holder is responsible for protocol and report writing, execution of experimental work and data analysis.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Formulate and characterize novel non-viral vectors for targeted delivery of nucleic acid-based therapeutics, including lipid nanoparticles.
  • Conduct high-throughput in vitro experiments to evaluate the efficacy and safety of developed formulations in traditional and advanced cell culture models.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project timelines and deliverables.
  • Participate in the identification and evaluation of emerging technologies in nucleic acid delivery.
  • Document research findings and present results to internal stakeholders and externally, fostering a culture of innovation within the team.
  • Mentor junior associates and co-ops, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies, coordinate equipment calibration schedule, and organize work areas using 5S principles.
  • Write and revise SOPs.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 2+ years (M.Sc.) or 4+ years (B.Sc.) of relevant industry experience in lipid nanoparticle and nucleic acid delivery system development with strong background in nucleic acid therapeutics and education in related discipline (Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, etc).
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of lipid-based delivery systems, manufacturing technologies and hands-on experience in nanoparticle characterization techniques (e.g., DLS, zeta potential, ribogreen, pKa, chromatography).
  • Knowledge of formulation downstream purification methods such as ultrafiltration and tangential flow filtration (TFF).
  • Knowledge of cell-based assays for evaluating the performance and mechanism of action of novel delivery systems.
  • Experience in setting up and operating high-throughput screening protocols for delivery formulations and lab automation equipment setup and programming.
  • Proven ability to independently interpret experimental data, troubleshoot technical challenges, and develop innovative solutions.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in English with strong documentation, writing, and basic arithmetic skills.
