This role is critical in ensuring reliable, efficient, and balanced facility operations, while serving as a domain expert (SME) for all HVAC and Building Automation/Controls systems.
What You'll Do
- Develop, implement, and oversee the HVAC Repair & Maintenance (R&M) program across Chewy Vet Care practices, ensuring system reliability, preventive maintenance execution, and vendor performance.
- Establish benchmarks and reporting tools to monitor HVAC system performance, uptime, and energy efficiency.
- Verify design drawings, specifications, and submittals against installed equipment for new builds and retrofits.
- Provide oversight and hands-on support for commissioning and recommissioning activities.
- Serve as technical reviewer for HVAC and BAS/BMS controls system design across projects.
- Act as owner/operator of Chewy Vet Care's Building Automation/Management Systems (BAS/BMS) with ability to manage, program, and optimize systems in-house.
- Ensure sequences of operation are aligned with building performance objectives.
- Collaborate with vendors while maintaining internal capability to self-perform system tuning, monitoring, and analytics.
- Lead energy management strategy, reducing usage of electricity, water, and gas while enhancing indoor air quality and comfort.
- Leverage data from BAS platforms to drive continuous improvement and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Serve as the primary SME for HVAC and controls issues, providing technical solving, resolution strategies, and multi-functional guidance.
- Support critical incident response and facilities continuity planning.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience in HVAC/Controls leadership.
- Expertise in HVAC equipment, BAS/BMS platforms, and energy management principles.
- Hands-on programming and commissioning with major controls platforms (e.g., Trane, Siemens, Honeywell, Johnson Controls).
- Proficiency in protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, LON, and KNX.
- Experience in critical environments (healthcare, labs, fulfillment, data centers, or veterinary practices preferred).
- Strong analytical, solving, and vendor management skills.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
- Excellent communication and ability to travel up to 80% nationwide.
