  • Job Title: R&D Engineer Sr.

Job Description:

  • We are seeking an experienced automation engineer to help integrate our automation workstation based high throughput protein production, purification and screening platform with an existing informatics program.
  • Working collaboratively with scientists and software developers, the candidate will map the workflow of physical goods within the system, define tracking connections between automation and informatics systems, and develop and validate those connections.
  • Additionally, the candidate will assist with the programming and curation of Tecan protocols.
  • The candidate will create workflow documentation and detailed user protocols for this process.
  • Final protocols will provide sufficient documentation of the process and automation protocols to enable staff to execute them, and extend their function in their absence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strategy for flow of materials and information between automation workstations, laboratory instrumentation, and information storage in Genedata Biologics.
  • Create example files, protocols and help documentation of automation and informatics workflows.
  • Create and document protocols for Tecan Evo automation platform.

General Job Description:

Responsible for providing technical support in the creation and the development of new medical device products (invasive and non-invasive).

Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.

1. Identifies and initiates programs which result in innovative application of existing or new products or technologies.

2. Conduct experiments and/or develop strategies for consideration that extend beyond known scientific and engineering precedents.

3. In order to enhance professional knowledge, the Advisor will review technical documents/publications, attend professional meetings, and interface with suppliers/vendors.

4. As the organization's technical expert, the advisor will provide advice, assistance and direction to project teams and management, when required to assist with problem recognition, review, and resolution.

5. Serves as an advisor on technical acquisitions and new technology development teams.

6. Mentors other employees when appropriate.

7. Provides periodic communication updates to management on future business direction and problem resolution.

8. Publishes scientific papers in professional journals contributing to the advancement of science.

9. Researches, develops, designs, and evaluates mechanical and electro-mechanical materials, components, assemblies, processes and/or equipment.

10. Conducts feasibility studies to verify capability and functionality.

11. May have direct reports who assist in collecting data to support innovative Bachelor's degree plus 12+ years of related work experience with a complete understanding of specified functional area, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Advanced degree preferred.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in scientific discipline such as medical technology or computer science.
  • A demonstrated track record of impact through automation.
  • Direct experience with the creation of automation workflows utilizing Hamilton and Tecan equipment is preferred.
  • Direct experience in the utilization or creation of an informatics system in a drug discovery environment is required; experience using Genedata Biologics is preferred.
