Locus Robotics is seeking an experienced and self-motivated QA Software Engineer with a strong background in hands-on software testing and an understanding of automation principles. The ideal candidate has a track record of testing full-stack applications in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, C#, and .NET, along with exposure to backend technologies in an IIS and Windows Server environment. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring high-quality software through manual and exploratory testing while contributing to automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and scalability. This position is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented QA professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is excited about the intersection of software and robotics.

This is an onsite role based in our Wilmington, MA headquarters.

Responsibilities

  • Manually execute test cases to perform hands-on testing of web-based and backend applications, identifying bugs and verifying functionality to ensure optimal usability, performance, and reliability.
  • Develop and execute manual test cases for new features, enhancements, and bug fixes.
  • Work closely with developers to define testing strategies for full-stack applications.
  • Participate in test planning, requirement analysis, and risk assessment.
  • Identify, document, and track issues using JIRA or similar bug tracking tools.
  • Conduct UI testing for JavaScript-based single-page applications (SPA).
  • Validate backend services, including WebSockets, Web APIs, IIS, SQL Server, and Windows Server environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance testing processes, incorporating automation where appropriate.
  • Contribute to automation frameworks and test scripts to support long-term scalability and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience in a commercial software environment.
  • 5+ years of experience in QA or Software Testing, with a strong emphasis on hands-on manual testing in a commercial software environment.
  • Proven experience in developing, executing, and maintaining test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
  • 5+ years of experience testing full-stack applications, including JavaScript-based web applications, HTML, CSS, and C#.NET.
  • 5+ years of experience testing backend technologies, including WebSockets, Web APIs, IIS, SQL Server, and Windows Server.
  • 5+ years of experience writing SQL queries for data validation and backend testing.
  • 5+ years of experience using bug-tracking tools such as JIRA.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile development methodologies and testing applications in Visual Studio.
  • Knowledge of browser developer tools (e.g., Chrome DevTools) for debugging is a plus.
  • Experience with integration and acceptance testing in Linux containers is a plus.
  • Understanding of basic networking concepts relevant to software testing.
  • Proficient English written and verbal communications skills required to collaborate effectively with internal and external teams.
  • Strong time management and problem-solving skills.
