A Day in the Life:
- Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test scripts primarily using Selenium WebDriver with Java or C# to validate web-based applications.
- Collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, and QA peers to review requirements and ensure testability throughout the SDLC.
- Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews to ensure automation readiness and alignment with coding and testing best practices.
- Execute and maintain end-to-end regression suites, ensuring test coverage across browsers, environments, and integrations.
- Integrate automated test scripts into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) to support continuous testing and early defect detection.
- Implement page object models (POM) and other reusable design patterns to streamline test development and maintenance.
- Debug failing automated tests, isolate root causes, and collaborate with development teams to resolve defects efficiently.
- Use tools like Postman or REST Assured for API validation and JMeter for performance testing as needed.
- Document automation test coverage, maintain test artifacts in the team’s test management system, and report testing progress and quality metrics.
- Provide mentorship to junior QA engineers on Selenium best practices, framework usage, and coding standards.
- Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to the automation framework, tooling, and processes to increase efficiency and reliability.
