We're looking for a Public Relations Manager to join Klaviyo's growing Communications team. This is a strategic and creative role for a PR manager who's passionate about storytelling, media engagement, and making customers the hero. You'll play a central role in building Klaviyo's visibility across marketing, retail, and ecommerce media (including podcasts and substacks) by driving customer-led PR programs, seizing timely market moments, telling data-led stories and supporting executive thought leadership programs.
As we reposition Klaviyo as the CRM built for consumer brands, you'll help bring that story to life through compelling customer success stories, data-driven insights, and a strong point of view on where marketing is going next. This is a highly cross-functional role that partners closely with product marketing and customer marketing.
How You'll Make a Difference:
  • Lead customer-driven PR programs: Build and manage an always-on customer PR engine. Identify stand-out brands using Klaviyo, work with customers directly and secure media interest in their stories that tie back to Klaviyo.
  • Identify timely, culturally relevant moments for storytelling: Monitor the marketing, retail, ecommerce and other relevant landscapes for trends, news cycles, and cultural moments where Klaviyo's platform data, customer activity, or POV can fuel fast, impactful PR plays and help tell our story in ways that resonate with what's happening now.
  • Support executive thought leadership programs: Support programs for Klaviyo's CEO, CMO, and CPO. Craft messaging, shape points of view, secure speaking and media opportunities, and build executive visibility across key platforms including LinkedIn.
  • Support Klaviyo events and media activations: Partner with the broader marketing and comms team to drive earned media strategies around key moments like K:BOS, media dinners, and other company milestones. This includes securing press attendance, developing compelling storylines, and amplifying announcements through coverage and relationships.
  • Drive media relationships across traditional and emerging channels: Build and maintain strong relationships with retail, ecommerce, and marketing media as well as identifying creative earned opportunities through substacks, podcasts, influencers, and other nontraditional outlets.
  • Leverage data for storytelling: Work with product marketing and analytics to uncover platform insights and trends that can drive unique media angles.
  • Measure and improve impact: Use tools like Signal to track share of voice (SOV), campaign performance, and competitive visibility and use those insights to inform future PR strategy.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Work closely with teams across product marketing, customer orgs, partnerships, and content to build integrated stories that amplify Klaviyo's platform value.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Who You Are:
  • 5+ years of public relations or communications experience, including time in-house and/or at a top agency; experience in B2B tech, ecommerce, or marketing SaaS is a strong plus.
  • A proven ability to land meaningful media coverage across top-tier retail, marketing, ecommerce, business, and tech publications as well as emerging channels like podcasts, substacks and influencers.
  • Deep experience identifying and pitching customer stories, knowing what makes a brand story worth telling, and how to frame it for media.
  • Strong familiarity with the marketing landscape, retail calendar, and the trends or stunts that capture attention.
  • Skilled in executive communications, including prepping spokespeople, developing messaging, and securing speaker opportunities
  • Strategic thinker and strong operator equally comfortable driving long-term PR programs and responding quickly to market moments.
  • Familiar with SOV and media measurement tools (e.g., Signal, Muck Rack) and how to apply insights to your work.
  • Experience managing events including user conferences and putting on media or customer events. With an understanding of what makes them unique.
  • Collaborative and proactive, with strong cross-functional instincts and experience working closely with product marketing and customer-facing teams.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
