Reporting directly to the Director of Technology Delivery, the Senior Project Manager is responsible for all aspects of managing multiple complex projects. This includes the creation of charters, budgets, communication and risk plans, development and maintenance of detailed project plans, and leading project teams through planning, organizing, and controlling a project from start to finish. This individual will partner with stakeholders across the organization, and work with external vendors to ensure successful project delivery. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Complete project initiation including project approval, identification of stakeholders and project resources, charter completion, and project kickoff.  
  • Develop project plans with budgets, milestones, tasks, schedules, and deliverables for all assigned projects.  
  • Manage and control project plans to ensure on time, within budget project delivery. 
  • Assign tasks to project team members with appropriate tracking progress to plan. 
  • Ensure the project team understands how project objectives align with organization objectives.  
  • Facilitate project meetings including agendas, meeting notes, and action items. 
  • Document project risks and issues with resolution tracking to completion. 
  • Recognize and advise leadership of concerns/issues and provide appropriate follow-up. 
  • Assure quality of work by coordinating review prior to implementation with appropriate written documentation. 
  • Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues to stakeholders, and leadership. 
  • Coordinate multiple activities, set priorities, and provide direction to others. 
  • Provide leadership through delegation, motivation, and support of project team members. 
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere in behaving and communicating in a manner that promotes favorable working relationships. 
  • Maintain an understanding of the organization and the tools available to successfully plan work detail and schedule resources to meet target dates.  
  • Participate in establishing practices, templates, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature project management capabilities for the organization. 
  • Maintain an understanding of industry-wide changes and technology trends in the areas of project management. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in project management; experience in strategic planning, risk and change management. Experience in the healthcare and/or veterinary industry is a plus but not required.

In addition, this position requires: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in project management, business administration, or related field. 
  • MBA preferred. 
  • PMP preferred. 
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects and adjust priorities, as necessary. 
  • Ability to build relationships with and influence other functional areas. 
  • Ability to step into projects already in progress. 
  • Excellent organization and time management skills. 
  • Operates independently with minimal guidance by management. 
  • Adapts well to change. 
  • Ability to work in an ambiguous environment and collaborate across multiple areas. 
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to perform root-cause analysis. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to successfully present technical information. 
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work with all levels within the organization. 
  • Ability to motivate and lead a team. 
  • Strong analysis and critical thinking skills. 
  • Capability to travel 10% including overnight and multi-day automobile and airline travel. 
  • Proficiency with Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, project management software, and SharePoint with experience presenting stakeholders and senior leadership.

The posted range for this position is $81,700-$134,800. which is the expected starting base salary range for an employee who is new to the role to fully proficient in the role. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity, etc.
