Business Unit Overview

This position is part of Novanta’s Corporate and Shared Services global teams.  Novanta’s Corporate and Shared Services teams play an important role in executing the company’s strategic mission and operations.  Included in Corporate and Shared Services are the business functions including Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal, Compliance, Corporate Development and Corporate Marketing.  The Corporate and Shared Services teams work closely with all Novanta business units to support operating initiatives contributing to the organization’s financial success.

Summary

As a Senior IT Program Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing large, complex technology programs and ensuring successful delivery. Your main purpose will be to develop and execute project plans, manage budgets, and coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives. Your leadership skills and experience in IT project management will drive the success of critical initiatives, while maintaining high standards of quality and customer satisfaction. Your background in Program Management Office’s will contribute to the growth and maturation of the IT PMO to ensure successful delivery of business value.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Leading cross-functional teams to deliver complex IT programs on time and within budget.
  • Developing and implementing program strategies, plans, and budgets that align with the organization's goals.
  • Developing and managing program budgets, resources, timelines, and risk mitigation plans.
  • Establishing program governance structure and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
  • Building solid relationships with business partners and external vendors.
  • Leading efforts to establish and mature the IT Program Management Office, including drafting and implementing new processes and training.
  • Contributing to the development and adoption of PMO tooling and PMO frameworks.

Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies

  • Have experience in managing large-scale enterprise programs.
  • Have experience with managing global infrastructure projects.
  • Be committed to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Possess excellent problem-solving abilities and the capability to think critically.
  • Be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Be able to proactively manage project risks and issues and implement necessary changes.
  • Have experience in managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with different departments.
  • Have experience with Smartsheet and Atlassian.
  • Be able to identify the best PMI and/or agile methodology and framework to use for project, program and/or portfolio management work.

  • As needed based on projects.
