The Work You'll Do:

As a Product Owner at Sovos, you will be responsible for ensuring that market and product requirements are appropriately reflected and implemented in a finished product. This is largely an inward-facing role where you serve as the main liaison between product marketing, product management, and the engineering team. As an expert on the functionality of a specific product, you will also support other groups such as sales engineering, implementation, and technical support/customer service.

More specifically, you will:

  • Serve as the main liaison between product management and the engineering team, understanding the product strategy as defined by product management
  • Collect product requirements from key buyer audiences and end users
  • Coordinate the creation of product mockups and prototypes
  • Fulfill the product owner role, principally responsible for prioritization and maintaining (or grooming) a backlog which maximizes outcomes aligned with the product strategy (roadmap) for one or multiple agile development teams
  • Write and present the product requirements document
  • Oversee and sign off on the functional spec
  • Oversee the product as it is being built by development/engineering
  • Communicate with stakeholders during the development of a product to keep them updated
  • Coordinate testing of a product, including user acceptance testing, alpha and beta programs
  • Collect, coordinate, and prioritize bug fixes
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Development/Engineering, UX/Product Design, Regulatory Analysis, Customer Support, Professional Services, and Product Marketing
  • Leverage AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance product development processes and deliver innovative solutions

What We Need From You

  • 5-10 years in a related field
  • Experience in B2B SaaS business analysis or product development preferred
  • Complete understanding of the Product Owner role within agile frameworks
  • Subject matter expertise of a product portfolio segment and/or instrumental technology
  • Ability to balance gut feel judgment and logical analysis, with willingness to make decisive calls
  • Ability to define priorities and lead teams with a results-driven attitude
  • Proactive collaboration skills to align cross-functional teams on strategy, planned releases, and growth
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, using a wide range of communication techniques to clearly convey the why, how, and when
  • Ability to optimize priorities and scope to ensure maximum value is delivered (maximize outcomes, not outputs)
  • Experience with or openness to adopting AI-powered tools to streamline product development workflows
  • Due to client contractual obligations, the successful candidate will be asked to clear a background check and drug test upon hire
