Job Opportunity:

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) is seeking a Senior Product Owner to join the Claims Technology team in Boston for the implementation and evolution of a modern Claims Management platform. In this role, you will partner with Claims and Technology leaders to define product priorities, translate business needs into actionable requirements, and deliver solutions that improve operational efficiency and user experience. You will lead key activities across the product lifecycle, including requirements gathering, testing, deployment, and adoption, ensuring measurable business value. The ideal candidate brings deep Property & Casualty insurance expertise, strong product ownership and business analysis experience, and a proven track record supporting large-scale claims digital transformation initiatives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead product ownership for the Claims Management System implementation, defining product vision, roadmap, and priorities aligned with business objectives.
  • Partner with Claims, Operations, and Technology stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into initiatives, epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Analyze business processes, workflows, integrations, and data flows to identify improvement opportunities and design future-state capabilities.
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog, working closely with Agile delivery teams to ensure successful planning, development, testing, and deployment of solutions.
  • Evaluate solution options, manage trade-offs, and validate delivered capabilities to ensure quality, business readiness, and stakeholder adoption.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships, communicate progress and risks to leadership, and drive measurable business outcomes through continuous improvement.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • 7-10 years of professional experience, including significant experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, Lead Business Analyst, or similar role in Property & Casualty insurance industry experience.
  • Deep knowledge of the end-to-end claim lifecycle, including FNOL, investigation, reserving, payments, recoveries, litigation, and claim closure.
  • Hands-on experience leading or supporting claims management system implementations, migrations, or modernization initiatives.
  • A proven ability to drive complex, cross-functional programs and collaborate effectively across business, technology, and vendor teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business needs into scalable technology solutions and influence key decisions.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments, with familiarity using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Preferred experience with claims platforms such as Guidewire ClaimCenter, Duck Creek Claims, Majesco Claims, or similar solutions, as well as claims digitization, workflow automation, cloud technologies, and legacy modernization programs.

BHSI Offers:

  • A competitive package and exciting growth opportunities for career-oriented teammates.
  • A dynamic, action oriented, and thoughtful environment centered on always doing the right thing for our customers, teammates, and our other stakeholders.
  • A purposely non-bureaucratic organization that embraces simplicity over complexity and emphasizes individual excellence in a team framework.
  • Benefits that support your life and well-being, which include:
    • Comprehensive Health, Dental and Vision benefits
    • Disability Insurance (both short-term and long-term)
    • Life Insurance (for you and your family)
    • Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance (for you and your family)
    • Flexible Spending Accounts
    • Health Reimbursement Account
    • Employee Assistance Program
    • Retirement Savings 401(k) Plan with Company Match
    • Generous holiday and Paid Time Off
    • Tuition Reimbursement
    • Paid Parental Leave

The base salary range for this position in Boston is $120,000 to $180,000, along with annual bonus eligibility. Total compensation for a candidate is determined by their relevant skills, location, and experience.
