About the teamAt Zillow Group, our mission is to empower people to unlock life’s next chapter. The Platform Product team enables Zillow product and AI teams to move faster by providing reliable, secure, and scalable platform infrastructure.
The MCP Gateway & Registry team operates the control plane for AI tool invocation across Zillow. As AI adoption accelerates, MCP ensures agents can securely discover, authenticate to, and invoke tools in a standardized way. We focus on reliability, governance, lifecycle management, and secure multi-team scalability so AI systems can grow without fragmentation or operational risk.

About the role

As a Senior Product Manager for MCP Gateway & Registry, you will define how AI agents securely and reliably interact with tools across Zillow. You will own strategy and execution for the Gateway and Registry control plane, establishing authentication standards, operational excellence bars, lifecycle governance, and scalable onboarding patterns.

This role is foundational infrastructure. Gateway instability or governance gaps impact multiple AI workflows simultaneously. You will balance reliability hardening with adoption growth, ensuring MCP evolves from a promising integration layer into trusted Tier-0 production infrastructure.

Your work will directly shape how AI capabilities are launched, scaled, and governed across the enterprise.

You Will Get To
  • Own the MCP Gateway and Registry roadmap end-to-end, defining clear problem statements, success metrics, and operational targets.

  • Establish and uphold the operational excellence bar for the Gateway, including availability, latency, observability, and incident response standards.

  • Define and evolve authentication, authorization, and multi-tenant access patterns to ensure secure, scalable AI tool invocation.

  • Design and operationalize a durable registry governance model, including verification thresholds, lifecycle expectations, versioning standards, and ownership clarity.

  • Partner with AI platform engineering, security, and agent teams to balance flexibility with enforcement and scale MCP as trusted Tier-0 infrastructure.

  • Create paved paths and validation mechanisms that reduce onboarding friction while preventing unmanaged tool sprawl.

  • Drive MCP adoption as the default invocation layer through structured rollouts, enablement, and measurable impact.

  • Use reliability, adoption, and governance metrics to continuously improve platform performance and prioritize hardening versus expansion.

Who you are
  • 5+ years of product management experience, ideally building internal platforms, APIs, gateways, developer infrastructure, or data systems that support multiple teams.

  • Strong technical fluency in distributed systems, service-to-service communication, authentication patterns, APIs, and platform architecture concepts, with the ability to reason about reliability and security tradeoffs.

  • Proven ability to define platform strategy and operating models that scale beyond initial experimentation into production-grade infrastructure.

  • Demonstrated experience leading migrations, consolidations, or standardization efforts across fragmented systems.

  • Clear, structured communicator who can influence engineers and stakeholders through data, operational reasoning, and strong product judgment.

  • Comfortable driving behavioral change and adoption across multiple teams, balancing enablement with governance.

  • Able to operate in ambiguity and impose structure on complex, cross-functional infrastructure initiatives.

  • Excited to work in a highly collaborative environment where you partner closely with engineering, data science, AI, and product teams to deliver company‑wide impact.

  • Here at Zillow, we value the experience and perspective of candidates with non‑traditional backgrounds. We encourage you to apply if you have transferable skills or related experiences.
