Responsibilities:
In this role, you will make an impact at Axios with the following responsibilities:

  • Own and lead the roadmap for a core product area, from vision through execution
  • Define KPIs and measurement frameworks to track performance and guide strategy
  • Uncover trends and use data to drive strategic product decisions
  • Evaluate trade-offs between value and complexity, explaining risks and decisions to stakeholders
  • Navigate ambiguity and proactively propose solutions that align with team and business goals
  • Anticipate edge cases, consider long-term impacts, and improve product processes and design patterns
  • Lead major team initiatives, balancing competing stakeholder needs while maintaining alignment
  • Mentor, coach, and delegate to create growth opportunities for peers and junior PMs
  • Unblock teammates and establish support structures that improve team efficiency
  • Identify high-leverage use cases for AI and integrate AI tooling into team processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness

Skills:
Ideal candidates will embody an entrepreneurial spirit, a passion for Axios’ mission, and have the following skills:

  • 5–7 years of experience in product management or equivalent roles in technology, media or SaaS
  • Demonstrated success leading the roadmap for a product area with end-to-end accountability
  • Strong strategic thinking and ability to connect day-to-day execution to long-term company goals
  • Proven ability to balance stakeholder needs and communicate trade-offs clearly
  • Experience defining KPIs, measurement frameworks, and using data to drive decisions
  • Track record of mentoring, coaching, and creating growth opportunities for teammates
  • Skilled at unblocking others, improving processes, and clarifying direction for peers
  • Advanced fluency in AI tools, with experience adapting and integrating them into team workflows
  • Experience working with cross functional teams such as engineering, data science and design

  • A clearly defined and well-executed roadmap for a core product area that drives measurable impact
  • Data-driven decisions that improve user experience, engagement, and business outcomes
  • Effective alignment of stakeholders and cross-functional partners through clear communication of trade-offs, risks, and long-term impacts
  • Demonstrated leadership through mentoring, coaching, and enabling team growth
  • Strong contributions to process improvements and scalable design patterns
  • Integration of AI tools and workflows that meaningfully improve team efficiency and effectiveness

Starting salary for this role is in the range of $140,000-$190,000 and is dependent on numerous factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, and skills. This range does not include other compensation benefits. Axios' compensation philosophy takes into account cost of labor differentials across the country. Because this is a remote-optional job posting, this salary range takes into account all possible locations within the United States, but candidates will only be eligible for the salary range for their location.
