As a Data Platform PM, you’ll own the vision, roadmap, and execution of a key Datadog Platform providing data services across the organization. Data platforms are essential for ingesting, processing, modeling, storing and querying data for thousands of customers. You’ll work closely with product and engineering teams across Datadog to identify opportunities to generate customer value by enabling them to quickly build products and features leveraging platform data.
At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.
What You’ll Do:
- Own the end-to-end product management process for the platform within Datadog.
- Define the vision and roadmap for the platform, focusing on its mission, prioritizing the most impactful problems to solve to enable customer value.
- Work closely with Engineering and Product teams to define and grow the platform, ensuring data correctness, freshness, scale, reliability, and cost efficiency standards are met.
- Expand the platform's capability for modeling and querying relationships between platform data connectivity to other data within Datadog.
- Drive efforts to improve query performance for internal and external users leveraging platform data.
- Define and own interfaces for teams to integrate with the platform, ingest data via the intake API, and query data.
- Enable new product features and use cases by adding platform capabilities such as data history, synchronous writes, categorization, and potentially concepts like taxonomy for smarter data navigation and aggregation.
- Influence decisions by providing technical consultation and direction to stakeholders across the organization.
- Deliver technical marketing literature to generate awareness and drive adoption of platform features.
- Define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the platform and report on them to business and executive leadership.
Who You Are:
- At least 5+ years of experience as a Technical Product Manager, ideally working on data platforms or infrastructure technologies.
- Proven track record of driving a vision and roadmap for technical platforms.
- Experience building and managing platforms for internal product teams, solving end-customer problems by enabling developers.
- Possess a deep understanding (and interest) in infrastructure resources, data modeling, schemas, and relationships.
- Ability to gain a deep understanding of system architecture and design concepts behind complex, enterprise-class software solutions at high transaction volumes.
- Sharp analytical skills and data-driven decision making mindset, with the ability to analyze trade-offs and prioritize effectively.
- Excels at empathizing with engineering needs and driving the right technology investments for a platform.
- Ability to bring clarity in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- You have an ‘enabling’ mentality, focused on building self-service capabilities for partner teams.
- Solid working knowledge of storage, compute, and networking concepts and technologies.
- You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
Datadog values people from all walks of life. We know not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That’s okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your experience, we encourage you to apply.
