Lead product vision and strategy for Spotify's user-behavior data platform, collaborating with engineering and research teams to innovate recommendation technologies.
Spotify’s Personalization team helps every listener decide what to play next. Together, we power some of Spotify’s most-loved features, from Daily Mix to Discover Weekly, helping hundreds of millions of listeners discover music, podcasts and audiobooks they love. We’re also hard at work building the recommendation technologies of tomorrow, powered by ground breaking innovations in machine learning and generative AI. At the heart of our recommender systems lies a powerful data platform that ingests, stores, models and serves behavioural data about our users. This platform helps us gain a deep understanding of what each user likes (and dislikes!), and enables our internal customer-squads to power listener-facing experiences.
We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager to work across 2 cross-functional squads, who own and operate this platform. You’ll collaborate with both squads and work closely with a wide range of stakeholders to understand how best we can serve important use-cases across the business. You’ll keep in lock-step with Spotify’s wider product vision for AI, and you’ll own the strategy for how our user-data will help bring this vision to life. You’ll work within the “Recommendation Foundations” product area, within our “AI Foundations” organization. We ask that you be physically located in Eastern Standard/Daylight time zones, for the purposes of our collaboration hours.
What You'll Do
- Drive the product vision, product strategy and roadmap for our user-behaviour data platform, and foundational tools, all of which are foundational in Spotify’s personalization stack.
- Partner with cross-functional teams—including engineering, ML research, and user research—to build and scale a wide range of datasets and services for internal customer-squads.
- Lead important efforts within our company-wide initiative on building next-generation recommendation technologies.
- Work with ML engineers and research scientists to Investigate, explore and evaluate emerging techniques and technologies in generative AI.
- Partner with key collaborators across Spotify to align on what data is most important, and how to ingest, model and serve it.
- Leverage experimentation and data to iterate quickly and drive continuous improvements.
- Cultivate a culture of innovation and learning within the team, focusing the needs of your internal-customers.
- Serve as a key evangelist for "AI-first" product thinking across Spotify and help craft the future of AI Product Management at Spotify.
Who You Are
- You have a proven track record of delivering large, complex platforms for internal customers.
- A “Platform PM”, with a strong customer-centric approach for internal stakeholders.
- Passionate about machine learning, data engineering and personalization (including familiarity with modern data structures, access patterns, and data-governance processes).
- Experienced in leading cross-functional teams spanning multiple disciplines, including engineering, design, ML, and business stakeholders.
- Comfortable managing multiple workstreams or products in parallel, demonstrating coordination and prioritization across teams and partners.
- A “systems thinker” who excels at navigating ambiguity, setting strategy, and prioritizing effectively in fast-moving technical domains.
- A confident collaborator who builds strong, positive relationships with partners and team members at all levels.
- A skilled, persuasive communicator, both in person and in writing.
- Excited to be at the forefront of Spotify’s AI-first product evolution, with a focus on innovation, iteration, and impact.
Where You'll Be
- This role is based in New York City.
- We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home.
