Lead the transformation of Imgur's product, focusing on growth and engagement, while managing a cross-functional team. Drive strategic vision and execution while fostering collaboration across departments.
MediaLab is a media & technology company focused on acquiring and growing properties and global brands. The organization is a unique combination of private equity, holding company and operating entity. We continue to expand and are proud of the prominent market position of our brands.
Come join an exceptionally talented team of engineers, designers, product and business builders. HQ is located in sunny Santa Monica, California with growing teams in New York, and across cities in the US and Latin America.
Your Role at MediaLab
Imgur is a beloved internet brand with a rich legacy and a passionate user base. However, like many long-standing platforms, it’s hit a point of diminishing returns—busy but stagnant, and ripe for reinvention. We’re looking for a bold, entrepreneurial Senior Product Manager who is ready to shake things up, reinvigorate the product, and lead Imgur into its next era of growth.
You’ll inherit a team that deeply cares about our users and the product but has grown comfortable in legacy habits. Your job is to reset the direction, rally the team, and drive measurable user and revenue growth. You’ll work cross-functionally to move fast, break silos, and ship results. This is not a maintenance role. This is a transformation role. Experience working on UGC platforms is required, as this role demands a strong understanding of user-generated content ecosystems.
What You’ll Do
- Own the Imgur product vision, roadmap, and full P&L responsibility.
- Assess the current state of the product and lead a strategic reset to prioritize growth, engagement, and monetization.
- Introduce fresh, data-backed ideas and test them rapidly. Cut what’s not working, and double down on what is.
- Lead and inspire a team that includes an Associate Product Manager, Community Manager, Designer, and a dedicated engineering group.
- Bring energy, urgency, and creativity to a team in need of revitalization. Influence change through empathy, persuasion, and smart decision-making.
- Drive product execution from ideation through launch. Set aggressive OKRs and ensure they are achieved.
- Break down silos and foster tight collaboration across other brands, sales, social, and leadership teams.
- Leverage metrics, user research, and competitive intelligence to uncover new opportunities and guide prioritization.
- Act as both a strategist and an operator.
What We’re Searching For
- Strongly preferred qualifications include experience working on UGC platforms, community-driven products, or media/ad-supported ecosystems; familiarity with SEO, editorial tools, or content moderation frameworks; and a demonstrated entrepreneurial background—particularly in building products from the ground up or successfully leading turnaround initiatives.
- 5+ years of product management experience, ideally within consumer internet or media platforms.
- Proven track record of driving meaningful revenue and user growth, particularly in legacy or turnaround environments.
- Experience leading successful product transformations.
- Deep understanding of user engagement and monetization strategies (e.g., ads, subscriptions), especially within social or community-driven platforms.
- Willingness to make tough decisions when necessary—you’re not afraid to “rip the band-aid” and bring people along with you.
- Strong communication, influence, and stakeholder management skills—able to win people over with clarity and conviction.
- Passion for internet culture and a belief in the power of community-driven platforms.
- Hands-on experience with product management and collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, analytics dashboards).
- Empathetic and inspiring leadership style; not afraid to challenge the status quo.
- Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) preferred, ideally in a product-focused discipline such as Business, Computer Science, Product Design, or a related field.
At MediaLab, we rely on a range of backgrounds, experiences, and ideas. We value diversity, and we’re proud to be an inclusive, equal opportunity workplace.
