Job Summary:LegalShield exists to make legal help affordable and accessible. The Senior Product Manager, Growth owns the experiences that bring consumers to us and turn them into members. This is one of the most visible product roles in the company: you report to the CPO, partner daily with the CMO, and lead a dedicated squad of 4–5 engineers with embedded design across every product in our direct-to-consumer (D2C) channel.
Your biggest job is building our freemium portfolio: free, account-based, AI-powered experiences that deliver real value and upsell into subscriptions. Our first, a free document review experience, is live today, and free experiences are expected to be a growth lever for 2027. You will also be Marketing’s product partner for the website, landing pages, nurture journeys, consent management, and checkout. This is a 0→1 role for a builder who moves fast and likes autonomy.

Responsibilities:

What Success Looks Like

  • Key metrics to move: account generation, free-to-paid conversion, and on-site conversion
  • First 12 months: scale the document review experience, launch additional freemium experiences with clear upgrade paths, and run a high-velocity testing program that measurably moves all three metrics

Performance Outcomes

Freemium Product Experiences

  • Own the freemium strategy, roadmap, and results across all D2C products
  • Find, validate, and launch free experiences that capture users and convert them to paid subscriptions
  • Optimize the full free-user journey, from sign-up and activation to upgrade
  • Use AI wherever it makes the experience meaningfully better, partnering with Engineering and Legal/Compliance where it makes sense

Marketing Technology & Top of Funnel

  • Own the product roadmap for the website, landing pages, and checkout, prioritized by conversion impact
  • Work with Engineering (platform owners) and Marketing to put Segment, Iterable, and Ketch to work in nurture, lifecycle, and consent experiences
  • Make sure tracking and instrumentation give the business a reliable view of funnel performance

Experimentation & Data

  • Run A/B and multivariate testing at scale, with clear hypotheses, success criteria, and quick decisions
  • Do your own analysis in Google Analytics and Mixpanel, and combine it with user research to understand why users convert or don’t

Engagement & Collaboration

  • Partner closely with the CMO and Marketing teams (paid search, product marketing, retention) on goals and priorities, and say “not now” with data when needed
  • Lead agile delivery with your squad, and present strategy and results to the CPO, CMO, and leadership forums

Education, Knowledge, and Experience

Required

  • 5–10 years in product management, including growth, acquisition, or conversion-focused work
  • Proven results owning high-traffic website, landing page, or checkout experiences
  • Experimentation at scale, with the statistical judgment to read results correctly
  • Hands-on experience with marketing technology platforms and the Google Analytics suite
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience

Strongly Preferred

  • Freemium, free trial, or product-led growth experience converting free users to paid subscribers
  • Mixpanel, Segment, Ketch, and/or Iterable; consumer-facing AI products; D2C subscription businesses

What Sets the Right Candidate Apart

  • Self-starter who acts without waiting for permission, and decides quickly with imperfect information
  • True collaborator who builds trusted partnerships, especially with Marketing
  • Owner’s mindset focused on business outcomes, and motivated by our mission of accessible justice

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
