In this role, you will be able to make an immediate impact as a Senior Product Line Manager leading the creation of the next generation of consumer floor care robots. You will be working in a fast-paced cross-functional environment where you’ll need to leverage market and consumer insights with iRobot’s technology roadmap to bring to market new products that fulfill user needs and deliver profitable value to our customers. You will lead and be a standard bearer for the products we make and be responsible for product decisions throughout the development lifecycle.
You will be exposed to cutting edge consumer robotics hardware and software technology and will be presented with opportunities to demonstrate your leadership and communication skills across varying levels of stakeholder teams in a fast-paced, consumer-centric environment.

What You Will Do: 

  • Hold end-to-end responsibility for one or more product lines within the iRobot Floor Care product portfolio. Demonstrate the depth of experience, maturity of thinking, and multi-tasking skills necessary to successfully execute on current generation robots while planning next generation products and experiences.
  • Influence and lead thinking with regards to iRobot’s product roadmap. Maintain deep knowledge regarding your customers’ needs and the competitive landscape. Be able to communicate and evangelize the product roadmap to partner organizations.
  • Create and maintain product assets such as PRFAQs and Product Requirements Documents that conceptualize the product vision and benefits, capture requirements, define functionality, and set product goals in a clear and actionable format.
  • Develop and maintain business cases for your product line in partnership with organizations such as Finance, Sales, and Operations. Advocate for Design to Value principles that identify the key feature pricing and cost savings considerations necessary for the right balance of customer value and profitable gross margin.
  • Lead product teams and serve as a force multiplier for R&D, Operations, and Design/UX to define and deliver on product visions by making the right design, feature, experience, and cost tradeoff decisions encountered during development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Research, Marketing, Sales, and R&D to assess competitive, market, and technology trends, identify innovation opportunities, and create productization plans to bring new innovations to market. 
  • Have accountability to deliver on holistic product line launch commitments, including market entry timing, product capabilities, user experience, cost, and business results.
  • Monitor key product success metrics post-launch including sell through performance and customer satisfaction / star ratings. Lead across teams to leverage data, generate insights and drive action plans that improve lifetime product line success and inform next-generation planning.

To Be Successful You Will Have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a technical field or technical management. Preferred candidates will have a master’s degree or MBA. 
  • 6-8+ years of experience in Product Management or a related field such as Product Planning, Product Development, or Portfolio Management. Preferred candidates will have experience with both strategic planning and tactical execution/development activities.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical skills, and close familiarity with Product P&L.
  • A demonstrated track record of defining and delivering successful innovative products to market. Experience with consumer electronics is preferred.
    • The initiative to navigate through ambiguity, pioneer new ideas, and drive the execution plans that bring them to fruition.
    • The ability to leverage data and lead analysis to interpret potential risks/outcomes and drive action plans across key product success metrics.
    • The ability to serve as a thought leader with counterparts across Product, R&D, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Operations in pursuit of Product and Company goals.
    • The ability to lead across organizations via influence and effective communication at all levels of the Company.
    • The maturity of perspective to serve as a trusted Voice of the Product and Consumer.
    • The perseverance and grit necessary to overcome product obstacles and lead teams through moments of adversity.
