At Compass, our mission is to help everyone find their place in the world. Founded in 2012, we’re revolutionizing the real estate industry with our end-to-end platform that empowers residential real estate agents to deliver exceptional service to seller and buyer clients.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to create consumer-facing experiences on web and mobile that serve as the front door to our real estate platform — the point at which home buyers and sellers first encounter our brands, begin their search, and get connected with the professionals who will guide them. In this role, you will partner closely with Product and Engineering teams to design experiences that work across a portfolio of real estate brands, helping consumers find what they need and take their next step with confidence.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience designing within consumer brand ecosystems across web and mobile platforms, a rigorous approach to discovery and research, and a portfolio that demonstrates both design excellence and user-centric thinking. You are highly collaborative, comfortable operating in ambiguity, and motivated by the challenge of making something genuinely difficult feel clear and human.

ResponsibilitiesDiscovery & Research
  • Lead and support discovery work to understand consumer behaviors, mental models, and pain points across the home search and agent-connection journey. Design and facilitate usability studies, contextual interviews, and concept tests. Synthesize qualitative and quantitative signals into actionable product opportunities.

  • Translate research insights into well-articulated problem frames that align design, product, and engineering around a shared understanding of consumer needs.

Interaction Design & Craft
  • Design intuitive, polished consumer experiences across the full product surface — search and filtering, listing detail pages, saved homes and collections, agent profiles, and the connection and lead handoff moments. Hold the bar on craft.

  • Create customer journey maps, user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes to drive alignment, communicate intent, and pressure-test solutions before build.

  • Design and validate multimodal experiences (web, mobile web, native mobile) and ensure consistency, quality, and brand coherence across surfaces.

Systems Thinking & Documentation
  • Think beyond individual screens — consider how content, data, user actions, and moments across the consumer journey connect to create a coherent, end-to-end experience that holds up from first search through agent connection.

  • Contribute to and work within established design systems across a multi-brand ecosystem to ensure scalability, usability, and consistency. Identify patterns worth standardizing at the platform level and advocate for system-level solutions that serve all brands equitably.

  • Deliver clear, thorough design documentation and specifications that set Engineering and Product partners up to build with confidence and without ambiguity.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Strategy
  • Build strong working relationships with Product, Engineering, Research, and Marketing stakeholders. Understand team priorities and bring a design perspective to strategy conversations, not just execution.

  • Balance consumer needs, business objectives, and technical constraints to solve problems effectively. Make tradeoffs transparent and advocate for the consumer when those interests are in tension.

  • Contribute to a broader consumer product strategy that reflects CIH's commitment to delivering an exceptional home buying and selling experience — one that earns consumer trust and connects people with the right professionals at the right time.

What You Bring
  • 7+ years of product design experience, with meaningful work on consumer-facing web and mobile products — ideally within search, marketplace, real estate, or similarly complex consumer journeys.

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating design excellence, end-to-end product thinking, systems reasoning, and the ability to simplify complex experiences into something that feels effortless for users.

  • A rigorous, curious approach to research and discovery — you know how to ask the right questions, design the right study, and turn messy qualitative data into clear product direction.

  • Deep understanding of interaction design, information architecture, usability principles, and scalable UX patterns across web and mobile.

  • Experience working within or across brand ecosystems — understanding how design decisions affect brand coherence and consumer trust across multiple surfaces and form factors.

  • Ability to gather and synthesize requirements from multiple stakeholders and translate them into intuitive, well-considered user experiences.

  • Comfort operating in ambiguity — you don't need perfect requirements to make progress, and you know how to create alignment by showing rather than telling.

  • Experience collaborating closely with Product and Engineering throughout the full product development lifecycle.

  • Familiarity with data-informed design decision-making, including working with analytics, A/B test results, and quantitative research.

  • Proficiency with Figma and modern prototyping tools.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to Have
  • Experience designing within the real estate, marketplace, or transactions space — understanding the unique dynamics of high-stakes, infrequent consumer decisions.
  • Familiarity with consumer search and filtering experiences, listing presentation patterns, or agent-consumer connection flows.
  • Experience designing for or alongside AI-powered features — personalized recommendations, smart search, or content surfacing.
  • A background working across large-scale brand ecosystems with multiple consumer touchpoints (web, mobile web, native apps).
  • Experience with notification design, engagement mechanics, or consumer onboarding flows.
  • Understanding of SEO and content strategy as they intersect with consumer UX — how discoverability and experience quality reinforce each other.
