About the role :

  • Yassir is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Product Data Analyst, of mid / senior level, to join our Data Analytics team and contribute with shaping the business’s decision making and product offering in making it more data and insights driven. As a Product Data Analyst, you will play a crucial role in analyzing data, helping us prioritize, assess, develop product features for our millions of users across Africa. Your expertise in both data processing, robust statistical analysis, insights derivation, hypothesis formulation and data visualization will be essential in driving our solutions and providing value to Yassir. This is a very exciting opportunity, tackling some of Yassir’s most critical problems.

  • The Data Analytics team is part of Yassir’s central Data & AI domain, which is responsible for all data related activities in the organization - from Data Engineering, Data Platform management and Data Analytics all the way to AI solutions and MLOps infrastructure development. We are a global team of Data and AI / ML experts, encompassing diverse backgrounds and skills. Job Description

  • Key Responsibilities :
  • Become an expert point of contact and thought leader on your scope by mastering the details and principles pertaining to it; we expect this role to focus on our Last Mile Delivery (LMD) / on-demand services domain, encompassing: food delivery, grocery delivery, and courier services
  • Analyze large, complex product and user datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights that inform product strategy and decision making.
  • Support product discovery by identifying user needs, pain points, and opportunities using quantitative analysis and behavioral data.
  • Partner closely with Product Managers, Data Engineering, Operations, and other business teams to define success metrics, translate business questions into analytical problems, and guide data-driven prioritization
  • Work closely with Data Science / AI to define features, conduct Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) and ease the development of AI / ML solutions.
  • Apply strong statistical methods to ensure analytical rigor, including causal inference, segmentation, and forecasting where relevant.
  • Contribute to defining and evolving product metrics frameworks, north-star metrics, and measurement best practices across teams.
  • Assess data quality, identify gaps or anomalies, and work with Data Engineering to improve data pipelines, instrumentation, and tracking.
  • Design, execute, and interpret experiments (A/B tests, feature rollouts, cohort analyses) to evaluate product changes and measure impact on user behavior and business outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain robust dashboards and reports to track product performance and key KPIs across the user lifecycle.
  • Formulate hypotheses, conduct deep-dive analyses, and clearly communicate insights and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior analysts and contribute to building a strong Analytics culture through documentation, standards, and knowledge sharing.
  • Explain technical solutions in a business-friendly manner, supporting Product teams in their communications and reporting
  • Maintain and improve technical documentation of delivered solutions
  • Support the Data & AI domain in developing its technical capabilities, improving its ways of working and collaboration with other dependent teams.
  • Champion Data Culture, proactively share knowledge across teams, and participate and drive team building activities
  • Key Requirements :
  • Essential :
  • Solid Mathematical / Statistical / Analytical skills - ideally supported by a Masters degree or above in a relevant quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Operational Research, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, Economics.
  • Comfortable in efficient, high quality SQL and Python coding at a professional setting with at least 3 years of industry experience (more years of experience would be required for more Senior roles)
  • Comfortable with key Statistical concepts, such as statistical testing and causal analysis.
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Visualization skills, including experience with common Analytics / BI tooling, e.g. Google’s Looker Studio
  • Comfortable with key code optimization concepts, such as code / memory profiling, scalability, code testing, and associated best practices
  • Familiarity and prior use of Cloud solutions and their Data services - at Yassir we use Google Cloud Platform (GCP), experience with which is highly preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, including presentation and oral / written communication (clear articulation, concise documentation) in professional English.
  • Positive attitude and resilience
  • Strong interpersonal skills focused on peer support, empathy, active listening, team building and stakeholder relationships building
  • Internal drive, self-motivation and ability to work independently including own effective project management
  • Nice to have :
  • Experience with On-demand, Mobility or Financial Services companies
  • Experience working on product features for Digital Products (apps, websites)
